Colorado
On April 6 1975, 24-year-old Denise Lynn Oliverson got into a fight with her husband and left the home they shared at 1619 LaVeta street in Grand Junction, Colorado. Denise had decided to go and visit her parents to cool off after the argument, so she grabbed her yellow 10 speed bicycle and set off. But she never arrived at her destination, even though the journey between her home and her parents place should not have taken very long.
Denise's parents reported her missing the following day and the search for her began. It's been 43 years since that day and Denise Oliverson is still missing. Although there is no body and nobody has ever been charged in connection with her disappearance, we do know what happened to Denise...well, kind of.
On the day following her disappearance, searchers found Denise's bike and her shoes under a railway bridge along the route she likely would have taken to visit her parents.
Denise's fate would remain a mystery until 1989, when a man on death row about to be executed, would give up his final secrets to investigators in a vain attempt to prolong his life.
That man was Ted Bundy, one of the most infamous serial killers in history, and he would reveal to investigators that he had abducted and murdered Denise.
