Chapter Two

The journey home was a long one. My head kept on repeating the events that took place, the ones I wanted to forget. I was so distracted that I forgot to alight from the bus until the conductor approached and asked if I was heading to somewhere else. Getting home was the next huddle with half my shopping on one hand and my mind far away from me. I could not seem to think of anything at the moment that did not involve me stumbling onto the guy that broke my phone.

As I was walking I hit something hard and was about to fall when someone grabbed my hand. I felt his grip and it was a strong one against my soft tender little hand. I had closed my eyes when I was about to fall, I opened them slowly to have a look at my guardian angel (too soon, but he saved me from falling, that counts right?).  Luck was not on my side since the sun rays shone directly to my eyes and I could not capture his face. I stood up properly and collected my fallen bags from the ground.

"Thank You, where did this thing come from? " I asked rhetorically looking at a post that I had hit.

"Are You okay? " he asked looking curiously at my forehead.

"Yeah, its just a bruise, I will be fine" dismissing his hand to touch my area of injury.

"Next time watch where you are going, things fall from Heaven too"

"Yeah, you are not the first  person to tell me that today"

"Oh! Are you blind? " as he burst out laughing. It was not cool of him to make fun of me like that but I did not mind.

"Disability is not inability " I said happily as I remembered my highschool phrase.

I finally got a look of his face, he was beautiful and so innocent, his eyes were scrutinizing and looked like they can penetrate and see the inside of a person. I did not look at them again afraid that he could see everything within seconds. His body was gorgeous, from his hands I could see he was an athlete, he had that masculine body and the height of every woman's dream (six feet).

"I am Arnold by the way"

"Emma"

I must have been distracted by his beauty that he shook me and asked if I was okay.

"Yes I... "

Before I could reply a lady came and interrupted us, by the looks of things she behaved like she was his girlfriend.

"Hey Arnold, I have been waiting for you for almost an hour now " as she shifted her focus on me with an angry stare that says " stay away from my man, "

I read the signs early enough and decided to release him as if I was the one holding him hostage, if only she knew I was the one being held hostage.

"Emma meet my friend Monica, Monica meet Emma" he introduced us. We shook hands, but Monica was vigorous in her handshake making her point about 'her man'. I had already gotten the memo so there was no need for repeat.

"Nice to meet you Monica, but I have to get going " I said and left hurriedly.

"Emma " Arnold called out loudly, I looked back.

"Watch where you are going, don't hit your self on the trees, " he said laughing.

Did he have to say that?

On reaching home, I went straight to bed. I did not want to to think, I just wanted to forget everything that happened, well not everything but most of it.

Thank you for reading, still a beginner but am trying. I would appreciate if you comment on how I can improve my writing, and don't forget to vote... Thanks
