Harry stared at the clock that the Dursleys had "kindly" given him out of the "goodness of their hearts". There was ten minutes until he turned sixteen and he received the usual gifts from the Weasleys and Hermione.
To be honest, for some reason he was scared to turn sixteen. During fifth year at Hogwarts, they had learned about magical and creature inheritances in a special class that talked to them about the importance of being aware of this, because creature blood could be lurking in their blood without them knowing it, and honestly that terrified Harry.
But it wasn't only that. He also had this strange feeling when the teacher had been talking about creature inheritances. Almost like his blood was reacting to the word "creature". Maybe it was only him being paranoid, there was no way there was any creature blood in him. Dumbledore or Sirius and Remus would have told him if he did. Right?
But he still put up silencing charms about five minutes before just in case. If he did actually have creature blood in him, then he didn't want the Dursleys to know about it. Who know what they would do if they found out.
Harry had been gently petting Hedwig through the cage with his finger with the clock struck midnight and he officially turned sixteen. A few seconds later, he was screaming in agony.
After a few minutes of extreme pain, a pair of wings erupted from his back, tearing his shirt and his the skin on his back. Then his ears turned elf-like and his hair grew. Strange dark markings appeared all over his body. His body became more feminine and he lost an inch or two of his height.
As suddenly as the pain appeared, it went away, making Harry sigh in relief.
But he realized the his vision was blurry and he wondered if he had lost his glasses admist his screaming in agonizing pain.
Putting a hand to his face disproved that. Taking his glasses off, he noticed that his vision cleared as soon as they left his face. He had perfect 20/20 vision now.
He sighed and removed the silencing charms, as he didn't need them anymore and he left to go to the bathroom to see what his new appearance was.
As walked down the hall to the bathroom, he stopped to listen and make sure he heard his uncle's loud snores before continuing his trek to see what he looked like now, half scared and half excitedly curious, as he has never actually seen someone go through a creature inheritance.
Looking in the mirror once he got to the bathroom, he was surprised to see the markings and the elf-like ears, whereas he wasn't as surprised to see the wings; he had felt them rip through his skin. He was kind of upset to see that he had lost a couple inches of his already pretty short height, but he came to terms with it. Upon seeing his longer hair, he wondered how he was going to take care of his already unruly hair.
Quietly making his way back to his room, he opened the window to receive his packages but there was another owl there carrying a letter he didn't expect.
