Giyuu was seriously irritated but when he heard the snap of twigs, he hid his anger with a stern face. A purple flash encased his view as the insect pillar came to sight, her normal smile and violet eyes meeting his.
It took a lot for Tomioka not to make an outburst about her secret poison, but he stayed content with turning his head away to break their eye contact. Shinobu found this awfully weird and jabbed his forehead with her pointer finger.
"Already with your stoic faces?" she asked.
Kocho plopped down next to him and popped open the gourd full off fresh river water. She flashed it in front of his face to grab his attention.
"Here you go," she offered.
Tomioka took the water from her and drank a little before handing it back and saying, "You should drink some too."
Sinobu looked slightly shocked as she grabbed the gourd by the base and swiveled it a little.
'Indirect kiss but I do need to drink something,' she thought.
Giyuu seemed to be watching her out of the corner of his eye, making the insect pillar suspicious. She took a couple of sips before settling down next to the water pillar. Her sword on the ground caught her sight.
Shinobu reached out for it and grinned.
"Thank you," she said examining the blade.
"No problem," Tomioka simply responded.
He watched as she turned her back to quickly lean her sword on the tree's base.
Not turning around, she questioned, "Why do you keep staring at me like you've seen a ghost or something?"
She heard no response and quirked her head to look at the smaller figure before her.
Tomioka had completely shuffled his posture so that his back was towards her. Shinobu looked at him with a tint of hurt.
'Don't ignore me,' she pleaded on the inside. The shift of his shoulders signaled he obviously had something to say, but for some reason he didn't speak.
Shinobu gave up and turned her back to him as well. She slouched down the base of the tree and rested her head in the hurdle of grass.
Giyuu peered over his shoulder and finally inquired randomly, "What do you want to do?"
Kocho quirked her eyebrow and said, "I have no clue what you mean."
"When the battle is finally over, what do you want to do?" repeated Tomioka.
Shinobu hesitated to answer and whispered, "I'm not going to survive this battle..."
Bringing her hands into view, the insect pillar finally shed a single tear. She was scared, but no one should ever see her in this state. She was out for revenge, she wanted to desperately kill the demon that brought her so much pain back then, but she needed to complete a few things.
Shinobu felt the warmth behind her back as Giyuu reached around to hug her form from behind.
"And what if you were to survive?" he continued.
