The Avengers (The Witch/Nightmare)

chapter 3

(Bucky pov) 

*a few days after the attack* 

I've not really talked to anyone since we saw violet, not even steve. Then again, neither has he. The team has been giving us some space, which I appreciate.

“Just go to Brooklyn” “Just go to Brooklyn” “Just go to Brooklyn” the sound of her voice gets louder. I get up going to the kitchen hoping to find something, anything, to distract me from thinking about her.

“Stop” I mumble to myself. I open the door as quietly as I can. As I'm walking into the kitchen I hear someone drop something, the curse under their breath.

I turn around the corner to see Steve trying, and failing, to make some food. Considering that it's 3 o'clock in the morning, it was either because of nightmares, or the same reason as me.

“I dont think ive heard you curse in about 80 years.” I say watching Steve jump out of his skin. He turns around to look at me.

“Why are you up buck?” “why are you up?” I respond. He snorts, “she's running around your mind too?” he says. I chuckle, “when isn’t she?” he laughs, “true that.” there's a moment of pause, “so what are you making?” I say breaking the silence. “Eggs, you want some?” he asks. “Nah, i'm good” we sit and just talk all night, until nat walks in.

“How long have you two been up?” she asks. Steve looks at the clock. It reads 6:38 a.m. “about three and a half hours.” he responds. Her mouth curls up a bit. “Really?” she asks in disbelief. I nod. She takes some coffee from the pot that I made about 30 minutes ago.

“So you ever gonna tell us who she is?” The question threw me off guard. Steve almost chokes on his sip of coffee. We both look at Natasha with questioning eyes.

“Please, it almost seems as if both of you are head over heels for that girl and we don't even know who she is.” “my question is who's winning the girl over?” Tony says as he walks up from the lab.

There's a moment of pause, before Steve and I almost fall over from laughing so hard. “Yo-you think that I love her like that?” Steve says while holding his stomach. I wipe tears from my eyes. “Well you cried when you saw her” “she called you ‘stevie'’' tasha added on “And she said to leave for her sake and you did” Sam joined in.

I can't stop laughing. In Between laughs “Guys, she's my little sister you idiots.” Steve says. They look at us confused, “your sister?'' Natasha says. We both nod our heads doubled over from laughing.

Steve starts to calm down a bit. “Now buck on the other hand.'' I ram my elbow into his ribs. Steve starts laughing again. “He's been head over heels for her and hits me everytime I say anything about it.” He wheezes out.

I glared at him while cursing under my breath. Everyone in the room, besides Steve who's still laughing his ass off, smirks at me. “Really you're telling me there was one girl you couldn't get, I'm shocked” Tony laughs out. I give him the look, we all know the one. “Really? That's scary that you couldn't get the girl.” Nat adds on. I pick up an apple and throw it at her.

I would never admit it but I had the smallest smile on my face.

She dodged it easily laughing. I shook my head chuckling. “I hate you all so much” I say walking towards my room to take a shower.

“Wait, did she ever say anything to you? I know you stayed after you joined us, did she say anything to you that would be helpful to where we could find her location.” Sam says before I can turn the corner. I stop at his words.

“Brooklyn.” I turned to look at Steve, “she said to go home.” I say looking him in the eye while talking. “That's all she told me” I say, turning to walk back to my room to get ready for my run.
