Chapter 8
●●●
Two things stood out when Taehyung woke up to the sun shining through the window again. Jungkook was still lying behind him this time, his arm thrown over Taehyung's waist, his head buried in his neck. If the vampire hadn't just fed it could have been worrisome, but it wasn't. The second thing was that there was a black hole where his stomach should have been. Taehyung had barely eaten anything for two days in a row before and he had never felt like this. It wasn't supposed to be this bad.
For a while he just laid there, thinking about the evening before. What had that kiss -actually it had been more like a peck- meant? Had it really meant anything? Would he even want it to mean anything? Taehyung really wasn't sure, but he was comfortable in Jungkook's arms even with the cramps that kept shooting through his stomach.
When he couldn't endure it anymore he carefully climbed out of Jungkook's arms and got up. God, he still felt dizzy. Though he wasn't sure whether it was because Jungkook had taken a sip of his blood or the hunger. Probably both... Taehyung had lost a lot of blood and his body didn't have the components to make him regain his strength again.
He pulled both remaining protein bars out of their box and started unwrapping them before wolfing them down in probably way too big bites, but he couldn't help it. He was so hungry.
After drinking some water he considered lying down next to Jungkook again because it seemed nice and inviting, but then he thought of Jungkook possibly waking up during the process and decided against it. Too embarrassing. So instead he laid down on his mat pile, staring out of the window, his stomach rumbling loudly to itself.
He was going to die. There was no way this much hunger was healthy.
He barely noticed Jungkook waking up, too busy with his own suffering. Considering everything that had happened the day before the atmosphere was surprisingly easy going. Jungkook didn't ask any questions about what had happened. Questions Taehyung didn't have an answer to and certainly didn't want to think about now.
"Wanna play ball again?" Jungkook asked, pulling the ball they had played with the day before from the shelf.
"No. My stomach hurts too much. Just wanna die." Taehyung groaned dramatically, rubbing his stomach.
A couple hours later Jungkook tried again. This time asking if maybe Taehyung wanted to talk for a bit. That he could use some distraction, but once again he was rejected by a whining Taehyung complaining about how hungry he was.
By the time the sun was slowly beginning to set again Jungkook had enough of Taehyung's whining. He'd listened to all the pain and suffering all day and for some odd reason it really bothered him. He wasn't usually the type to be affected by this kind of thing, but it bothered him with Taehyung. He didn't want to see him suffer any longer
So he came up with a plan. Well 'plan'.
So he just walked over to Taehyung. "Sit up." When Taehyung did, he hooked his arms under his knees and arms before lifting him like he weight absolutely nothing. Taehyung yelped startled clinging onto Jungkook's neck. "What are you doing?!"
"Getting us out of here." Without much more of an explanation Jungkook walked over to the door of the shed and kicked the door. The metal screeched loudly as it bent and the door flew open. Taehyung just stared at the sudden path into freedom.
"Could have done that before."
"Didn't come to mind... also I'm gonna get in trouble for this." Jungkook muttered, glancing around the school grounds. There was not a single person there... which made sense, it was Sunday after all.
Taehyung just looked at the wide space and then back at Jungkook. "You're so useless. Holy shit, you could have gotten us out of here on the first day but you just forgot?"
Jungkook shrugged. "I don't exactly go around and kick in doors usually. I could, but I shouldn't, so they seem like just as much of an obstacle to me as to you."
Taehyung was about to say something. To complain. But he didn't get to start because Jungkook looked at him with those red eyes of his before whispering a soft "sleep" and Taehyung was gone.
If there was one thing Jimin hadn't expected when he opened the door to his and Taehyung's shared apartment after hearing the doorbell it was Jungkook with a sleeping Taehyung in his arms. What he had expected even less was for the vampire to simply squeeze into the apartment, not even acknowledging him as he went straight for Taehyung's room like he knew the way.
Jimin hoped it was just the vampire sense of smell and not because Taehyung had brought him here before. When Jimin reached the room as well Jungkook had already put Tae onto the bed and was just in the act of pulling a blanket over him. Jimin furrowed his brows even further.
He cleared his throat and finally Jungkook turned around, acknowledging his existence. "Would you mind me asking why you out of all people are carrying a sleeping Tae around and taking him here?"
"I think that's a story he should better tell you himself, but you don't happen to have some paper and a pen lying around here by any chance, do you?"
