Lipstick, lipstick, blot, smile. Lipstick, lipstick, blot, smile. Lipstick, lipstick, blot, smile.

Jane's blinding white pearls flashed as her newly painted red lips were tugged upwards. She looked at herself in awe and ran her fingers through her white-blonde curls.

"Why don't we try another shade, darling? Red just isn't your color."

Jane's smile weakened as she looked at her mother through the mirror, but quickly regained life. "Yes, mother." She responded, and began removing the lipstick with a wet wipe.

"Now, let's see.. we have 'ballerina pink', 'all smiles orange', 'candy coral...'" Her mother named off the choices, but was interrupted by Jane after choice five.

"Why don't I try 'flamingo flounce?'" Jane offered, shrugging her shoulders as she continued to stare at herself in the mirror.

Her mother looked at her daughter, then laughed that horrifying laugh that disgusted Jane. She was sick of hearing it, but of course, she couldn't tell her that. It was improper, and against the law. Jane Sallow was no rule breaker. "Darling, what did I tell you about interrupting?"

Jane sighed and laughed softly, shuddering slightly. "Sorry, mother. You know how I have the tendency to forget even the simplest of things."

"Yes, well, I'm sure that's nothing."

Lipstick, lipstick, blot, smile.

Jane examined her newly painted pink lips. She hated it. She despised the color, in fact.

"Jane, you're looking a bit down. When did you last take your pill?" Her mother raised an eyebrow.

"Oh.. not too long ago, I believe?.. If I'm remembering correctly?" She replied, biting her bottom lip.

"Well, pop another one. You must be tired, take a strawberry. That should give you a boost of energy."

Jane took a deep breath. "Yes, mother. Of course, mother." She took a tiny pink pill from a small golden box that sat on the living room vanity, and gulped it down. Her pink eyes lit up and a sudden wave of warmth and joy came upon her, a big smile appearing on her face. Everything around her became bright and colorful.

But there was one thing that stuck out to her. One thing that you didn't usually see when on HP.

One glowing blue butterfly, that appeared to be the size of her palm, flew across the room in what seemed to be slow motion. Jane could hear her mother talking, but paid no attention as she watched the butterfly in curiosity. She held her hand up, softly pointing her finger and waiting for the butterfly to land on it.

She watched as it flapped it's wings, then moved downwards and landed on her vanity instead of her finger.

"You're a curious little thing." Jane giggled softly as she lowered her hand and leaned down to get a closer look at the beautiful creature.

"Jane?" Her mother said rather loudly, pulling Jane's focus away from the butterfly and towards the woman who stood behind her.

"Yes, mother?"

"What ever came over you?"

"Oh," Jane turned her head back around to look at the butterfly, only to find it had vanished. "Nothing. My apologies, mother."
