"DAD STOP" I screamed in hope that he would calm down. I was wrong. "MOM JUST WALK AWAY" I shouted in hope to stop the fighting. It didn't work. They always argued, day in and day out. Usually I would be with my best friend Jackie but she's away with her parents for the summer. I couldn't go. School is out and I have no where to- "I'M LEAVING" dad screamed at mom before slamming the door behind him. "YEAH, YOU'LL BE BACK" mom screamed at the door. "You always come back.." I heard her say before her voice faded upstairs.
I walked to her bedroom and all I heard was Sadé and moms weeping voice singing along. I knocked on the door but she turned the music up louder. "Yeah, REAL MATURE MOM" I tried to yell over the music. Before I knew it dad rushed back in the house. "She was right" I thought to myself. I try not to be home when they argue but unfortunately I have no choice. Dad came upstairs banging on the door until she opened it. "Yeah, I knew you would come back. You always come back. You can't stay away from all this.." she chuckled. He payed her no mind. He was getting his things together like he was going on a business trip. "What do you think your doing Charles" mom asked as if she knew he wasn't serious. He didn't answer her. "CHARLES" she yelled and still no response. Is he really leaving? "Dad" I asked. "Yes Hazel, what is it" he asked as if he wasn't packing his things. "Oh, so you can answer our daughter but you can't answer your wife. Real mature Charles" mom asked with her arms folded. "What are you doing dad" I asked. He can't be serious. Is he really leaving? "Go get your things Hazel, hurry up" he ordered. What does he mean? Where am I going? "Charles No. You will not take my daughter away from me. YOU CANT DO THAT" she screamed with watery eyes. "Hunny. If you haven't noticed your mom has a drinking problem. You need to come with me- " "-NO I DO NOT. YOU CANT TAKE MY CHILD AWAY FROM ME CHARLES STOP IT" she screamed. I mean yeah she drinks but an alcoholic.. No.
"Diane you need help. Were not doing this in front of Hazel" he tried to say as calm as possible. "Forget it. We'll come back for it, Let's Go" he said pushing me toward the stairs to leave. "CHARLES STOP! PLEASE" mom begged, walking after us. She almost tripped down the stairs, luckily she caught herself on the railing. Has she been drinking? "Dad WAIT" I said trying to get out of his grip on my wrist. "Get in the car" he ordered. "Charles please" mom begged in the doorway. "Ask her first. Let her choose" she begged. He slammed my door closed and walked towards mom.
I couldnt make everything out but I heard a few words like stop and alcohol addiction . I got out the car and walked over to them. "Get back in the car Hazel" dad demanded but I ignored him. "Are you an alcohol addict mom. Just tell me the truth" I asked looking into her eyes waiting for an answer. "No baby. I don't- I'm not the alcoholic, your father is. Your father is just saying that because he knows you won't care about me and because you are my princess, I love you." she said rubbing my cheeks. None of that even made sense. I just couldn't believe it.
"Dad let's go" I said as I walked away from them. "Hazel" mom called out but I ignored her and got in the car. "You hear me calling you. I am your mother- " "-That's enough Diane, just go inside. I already called the center and everything is set up-" "-Shut the hell up Charles" she said as she walked to the car window. I locked all the doors. "Hazel baby. Please, don't leave me here by myself. Who's gonna-" "- Bye Diane" I said as I turned the radios volume up. I looked out the mirrors and saw people either outside their houses or peeking out their windows. I mean come on, mind your business. Dad was trying to get her inside the house and I was ready to go. Why would she lie to me? She said she would never lie to me..
