This is a little poem I wrote after I graduated from high school, during my time in school I felt like I could do anything I wanted but when I came out, I met a lot of sexiest and they made me feel like I wasn't worth a dime. I let them get to me, I let their words make me feel sad, I know about of us do too.
Thanks to some really brave women I was able to come out strong again, I hope you'll also come out strong and tell them to their faces "that you are perfect"."SHE".
Beneath those smiles, Lies the cry
The hidden tears of her broken heart. She conveys it all so perfectly
That one will never believe she was down,
She knows she's not perfect,
But she strives to be,
Only to step out of her door
And be treated like a rag. She's told to dream and dream big,
But when she's out, She's told to shut up and not be seen,
She's told to sit and watch the men. She's confused and angry,
She's tired and frightened,
She's strong yet weak,
She's full of answers but nobody wants to hear them. She stands in awe
As everyone turns their back
Broken and lost for words
She is scared and afraidHope and all its attributes
have been chased away
And depression sets in
Building its empire from nothingShe shuts everyone out
with fear that she may be wrong
She's scared of the mockery
she's scared of everything. All this started with a little mistake
which some of us may never regard
But they hurt more than the burning of the skin.
