Chapter 12 (Who are you)

Shirey's pov
"Doc,is she going to be okay?"
"Yea,she's gonna be fine,we ran some several tests and what she needs is more bed rest,it seems like she's been working so much without resting and that's why her brain was irritated.Its not so serious as per now because you got here in time but if you waited a minute longer we could be talking of another thing,seizures,which is not so good a condition."
"She moved,she's awake ,can I talk to her?"
"Sure,go ahead"
I heard some cracking voices that were not so clear from very far away before I felt someone run their hand through mine.
"Hey,how you feeling" I heard someone ask as I struggled to open my eyes,but I had a blurred vision.
"Who are you and what am I doing on a hospital bed.How did I get here?" I asked scanning the room with my eyes
"Hey relax,okay...Tell me how you are feeling" she asked with a soothing voice
"Am feeling a lil bit dizzy and dehydrated" I said struggling to sit up and look at the good looking butch that was standing right beside me.
"It's probably the side effects of the medication but you're gonna be alright sooner than soon,okay?" She said reaching for a glass of water that was on the stand beside my bed.
"And who are you and why are you here with me"
"My name is Tutty Lyon,I was driving across kimathi street when I saw you lying there,you probably had collapsed on your way to I don't know where so I decided to bring you to the hospital" she said " You didn't have a phone or anything that could lead me to your relatives or friends on you that's why I decided to stay until you were awake" she added
"Thanks for your kindness,when am I getting discharged?" Looking at the pile of tablets that was on the table,I couldn't imagine that they were gonna go down my throat.
" I just need to clear the bill then we are out of here,I'll be back in a minute" she said heading for the door
"Wait,why don't you let me call my mum so she can pay?"
"No,it's okay" she said and walked out.

What am I supposed to do? My dad doesn't want me home   no matter how much my mama tried to plead with him,he actually confronted her for still being in contact with me.I hate his dictator ass! I need cash to sustain myself so i'll need to go back to work and I need to graduate so I can get the hell out of this fucking shithole in the name of a town!
I was so lost in deep thoughts and reflectively fiddling when
Lyon interrupted.

" Hey,you ready to go" she said walking to where I was
" Yea sure" I said walking out of the room " I am sorry you were caught up in this, you must have had a lot of things to attend to that are now at a halt because of me" I added as she led me to the elevator to the ground floor
"No,don't apologize, it's not your fault or did you choose to fall sick?" She said holding my hand as we walked out of the elevator
"Yes,,,aaah no" her touch made me confused asf " Thanks for everything you did to me today.I now have to walk home" I said stretching out my hand to her
"No,I cannot let you walk alone considering your condition, let me drive You " she offered
"No,i....." I tried resisting but she dragged me to her V8 that was at the parking lot.
"I don't think you have an option" she said holding the car door open for me
"Okaaaaay,If you insist"

"So this is where you live?" She asked walking into my,almost empty, room and sat on the only plastic arm chair, that I had been lended by my boss,at the corner.
"Yea.Its what i can afford" I said sitting on my mattress on the floor at the other corner." I am sorry there is nothing I can offer you,am so ashamed" I added fidgeting with my My fingers and barely raising my head
"Don't worry,am fine.And I cannot leave you here alone with no-one to take care of you" her voice was now sounding sweeter
"I can take care of myself,I've done it for about 6 months now ...."
" ...in good health,remember? Right now you're not even supposed to work or do any heavy task until you get better,and for that to happen you need someone to look after you" she said with her tone now changing
"Well in that case I only have me to take care of me due to many unavoidable circumstances,so I don't have a choice but to work.I can talk my boss into getting me some simpler work but I have to work " the look on her face as I explained could tell how much concerned she was
"How about I be that person you don't have to take care of You?" She said walking towards me and sat on the mattress right beside me " I have several empty rooms in my apartment maybe you could occupy one and I could also use the company..see,it's a win-win" her smile made me feel comfortable around her like I had known her for the longest time,then the "when the deal is too good" saying suddenly hit me.For a second I had a Flicker of doubt.
  She just met me,why is she being so good to me?what does she want from me? What is she upto? I started to question whether her intentions were really pure but if they were,this was an opportunity that nobody would want to lose,there the " opportunity coming once" saying hit me and i was caught up in a dilemma.Do I do I not? Do I do I not?
  "Hey,what do you say? " she asked after realising that an awkward silence was taking over.
"Aaahmm.." I decided to walk into the slaughter house or paradise,whatever I was walking into, " okay,fine...but I'll pay you back for all you're doing to me" I said taking her offer
"It's okay,let's go then " she shot up and stretched her hand to help me up
"Let me pack my clothes" I said walking towards my dirty laundry basket where most of them were,since I had not found time to wash.
" We can always get some on our way" she said "Now go talk to your boss and tell them you're quitting,I'll be waiting in the car" she added on her way out

"Why are you being so nice to me anyway,and it's not like you know me?" I tried putting it the least offensive way possible as I fastened my safety belt on the passenger seat
"We are friends now and it's what friends do,isn't it?" She said as she ignited the engine
"Sure" I said as I fumbled in my pocket for my phone.
She put some music and we had a karaoke on the way.She sang me her favourite songs as I sang her mine. I realised that YOUNG MA was her favourite.We pulled over at the Thika road mall parking lot
I was awkwardly getting so comfortable around her which wasn't like me.
" How do I look" I asked her as I walked out of the dressing room
"You look like you are going to a Halloween party" she teasingly said smiling
"Daaamn,that's not fair" I said as I changed into another dress "Do I look like am going to a Halloween party? " i joked "No,you look like you are going for a job interview" she said sliding into a pair of high heels and started imitating girlish walking styles " And you look like you are going to break your legs in the next 2 minutes" I said sliding into another dress
" How about now?" I said rotating so she could have a better view
"You look like you're going to visit your grandma" she said picking very short dresses,of different colours,designers,and material "You don't have a taste in dresses do you?" She added giggling
"Try these ones out" she said handing them over to me
"I'm not used to dresses yoh,I like trousers better" I said
"Sometimes a change is good ykr" she said zipping my dress up and stood right behind me in front of the mirror " waoh!" I exclaimed
" see I told you" she said flirtatiously holding me by my waist.
I felt a tingling sensation but I did not want to show her.I picked two but she picked them all plus several pairs of heels,sneakers,trousers and tops and paid for them all.
We passed through the supermarket and picked a few things then to the creamy in on our way out.
It had been so long since I had gone shopping,the last I had gone with my mum and this one felt real good.I enjoyed every bit of it.
"Here we are" she said driving into a well- kept compound,the flowers to the gate were trimmed to form her name "Lyon",the rose flowers in her garden welcomed us with their sweet fragrance,and flickering lights that were all over the walls.
"It's a nice home you got here" I complimented as she lead me in
"Thanks,let me show you your room" she helped me carry some shopping bags upstairs " You can use this one,thou it's a little bit dusty" she said  leading me to a room that was right opposite the stairwell. "You can unpack and set your things now or you can join me for dinner first then we can do that tomorrow" she said leaning against the door.
" I'm not hungry,so I guess I'll just take a bathe and rest then settle in tomorrow" I said flinging on the bed.
"It's okay,I understand you've really had a long day today,we'll talk tomorrow,rest" she said then closed the door on her way out.

I was fast asleep when I was woken up by the slow creaks of the door.
