Saiph rushed to the back of the SUV, throwing open the trunk as Rigel followed. The giant made it's way out of the hole completely, it's large black arms raising in the air, slamming its two fists into the ground with a ear piercing roar. I felt my mind grow numb before a pair of hands grabbed my shoulder, pulling me behind the vehicle. They pulled me down to the ground, sitting beside them, I turned to find a young man. He put his hand on his head, adjusting his bowler hat before turning back to me with panic in his eyes.
"What they hell is that thing?" He asked, his voice sounding more scared than he looked.
"Hell if I know, I just got here." I said, sitting up a bit to peek through the window of the SUV. I watched as a flash of blue light soared through the air towards the beast, a flash of sparks emerging from it as Saiph appeared behind it, a look of frustration in her eyes. The creature roared again. I felt the metal of the van shake, my balance thrown off, falling to my side. I felt my leg get pulled hard as a large boulder smashed down where my head was. I looked back to find Rigel let out a relieved breath.
"Either of you know how to work a bow?" He asked, grabbing a piece of metal and a string. The metal was silver in color, a thick piece of metal in the middle that extended into two thin points, a blue line going from end to end in a streak resembling a lightning bolt. The string seemed to be made from a material I couldn't quite recognize, it's coils glistening in the evening sunlight.
"I took a few archery lessons as a kid." The man beside me said, taking out a large cigarette from his pocket. "Won a few awards in my time." He drew a lighter from his other pocket, sticking the butt end of the cigar into his mouth before lighting it. "Been a while since I've had to use a bow." He said, puffs of smoke coming through his nose and mouth.
"That's good enough for me." Said Rigel, pulling on the bow a bit before handing it to the man. He shuffled his way to the back of the SUV again, taking out a small, grey quiver of red tipped, metal arrows. He made his way back, handing the bag to the man. "When I give this signal," He makes a peace sign with his hands. "I want you to aim for it's eyes. When I make this sign." He moved his hand in the shape of an 'O.K' "I want you to aim for the legs. Understood?"
"Affirmative!" Said the man, sounding a bit more confident, but I could still see the shaking in his hands. Rigel looked to me, tossing a pen to me.
"I want you to click that the same time as I give the signal for eyes." He stood up, quickly making his way to the back of the Van, grabbing a pickaxe-like weapon. "There is going to be explosions involved. So I suggest plugging your ears if you can when I signal." He looked back to us, nodding in satisfaction before vanishing in a bolt of blue light. I looked back to the fight scene from the shielding of the armored windows as I saw sparks clash again, this time a good chunk ripped out of the beasts side. The creature bellowed, smashing his fists to where Saiph stood. She jumped back, the impact sending chunks of rock flying, bouncing off the glass causing me to flinch back. I tightened the grip on the pen. The last thing I want is to blow it right here. I rather not be another enemy in the eyes of these stars. I looked to the man beside me, his focus on Rigel, not breaking his sight. I looked back, watching both of them pulling strategic moves. Saiph causing more of a distraction as Rigel break the monster bit by bit.
"You have any idea what this thing is Aei?" Said the man, still watching Rigel. I looked to him about to speak up before he put a finger to his mouth in a shush to me, looking to me briefly then back to the fight. Aei? I shifted my focus back on the fight as Rigel sunk his weapon into the creatures back, pulling out a large chunk. Beneath it, a bright, white and purple core sat. It's colors sparking and reflecting in quick beams. It quickly sank its fists into the ground and pulling up a chain of rock, sending Rigel off balance as it slammed the rock into the gaping hole, covering the core.
