During the live shows the band held at small venues, right before they'd hit the road and move on up to headlining arenas for the first time in their music career, performing the songs went smoothly up until they got to the last song of the setlist; yep, you guessed it, the lovely yet highly problematic "Rocket Queen". The fans were beginning to notice the tension levels rising between Colt and Camila just as they were closing out the second to last song; Camila would routinely stomp across the stage and snatch a bottle of Jack, chug a large amount, splash the crowd with the rest of it then shatter the glass against a wall and never missed the opportunity to fuck up the introduction or her solo at least once.

At first the fans laughed and shrugged it off as just her being drunk and sloppy, or maybe it was part of the act to make the night more interesting and end the show with a bang. But then Camila flat out gave up playing the guitar at one point and stood on stage to have a smoke, completely unbothered, leaving Jordy to improvise and Colt as enraged as a spoiled white child not getting what he wants at a supermarket aisle. Obviously something was wrong about this particular song, they just had no idea what. And thank God this unsolved mystery and feud sparking between two leading band members got the fans buzzing with rumours and excited rather than upset that they were fucking up a great song, because now more media attention was being brought to TEASE and the record was selling like hotcakes.

Ashley was super pleased about this. Hell, she even anticipated it. As a band manager you can just see these things coming from a mile away.

But there was one major downside that had no benefits coming out of it whatsoever and Camila, unfortunately, was right about it too. Ever since the song was released, Ashley leaked information using "close sources" to the band as a cover-up, explaining that Colt's new girlfriend had wanted private access to the studio to add live sex sounds to their song. Since word spread, bundles of hate mail bombarded Lauren who had been anxiously anticipating and waiting for their arrival. She received all kinds of hate from diehard fangirls of Colt saying she was a classless whore, a gold digger, had no self respect, most likely grew up without a mother or father, was just using him for fame, etc etc.

These girls were outraged and jealous, ruthless and cruel, but mostly hypocrital. If they could be the Rocket Queen, they would. There wasn't a single girl who hadn't claimed Colt was theirs and that Lauren was stealing from them or could never give him the things they could. Lauren had a choice to burn them all and not read any mail that came through for her but, honestly, she was too invested in what was being said about her that the thought hadn't occurred to her. Maybe it was recommended by any of the guys that knew about the letters but she tuned it out? It can be harder than you think not to look for the bad shit somebody says about you when it's all you think about lately.
