My New Beginning

I gasped, glancing out into the audience and seeing a full house, all here to watch my team. Tonight we were performing at Jefferey's School of Dance, one of the top dance schools in the country I might add. Maybe I was nervous because this practically choose my whole future for me, and for my team. Or it could be the fact that I have a huge solo in this, and if I fail, the whole team fails. I can't even begin the imagine what would happen if we didn't get this, especially if it was all because of me. I glanced over at my two best friends- besides Lou, of course- Aiden and Alex. We all met when we joined the class, and I'll be the first to admit that they were way different back then. Aiden was shy and timid, definately not something I could say about him now. Since we first met, he had come out as gay, and become more confident and loud with each performance which i thought went fantastic with his almost black hair, vibrant green eyes and lean musclular build from dancing. Alex is hard to explain...she dyes her hair blonde, and sometimes acts like its her natural color more than anything. She's gorgeous but refuses to believe it everytime Aiden and I tell her, she's a few inches taller than yours truly - maybe 5'6ish - with a great fashion sense. Both of them are truly preverted, more than me, and we can't ever have a normal and mostly sane converstation without being weak from laughter at our own dirty jokes.

"Alex!" I cried out, needing the reassurance of the bubbly girl.

She giggled, shuffling over to me, "Whatcha needin', Girly?"

I sighed, "I don't think I can do this, I mean the solo is so hard and if I mess up-" My babbling was cut off my Alex's hand over my mouth.

"You're going to do great, you've practiced for this like a kajillion times!" she said, giving me a soft smile. I let out another sigh, taking her hand off of my face. "Just, don't fall!" Alex said, adding a wink before turning on her heel and walking away, or bouncing away I should say.

I walked into position, taking Aiden's hand into my sweaty one. "Jeez Ellie, we haven't even started yet!" he exclaimed, smiling slightly.

"I know, I'm scared out of my mind." I said, looking up at Aiden with a worried expression.

"You'll be fine, it'll be over before you know it." He whispered, giving my hand a reassuring squeeze before starting the routine with the rest of the team.

I walked backstage quickly, a few stray hairs that escaped the death of hairspray and hidden Bobbypins, sticking to my forehead with sweat. To say the performance was hard is an understatement, but as soon as I started dancing everything melted away, it was just me and the music. "Ellie!" Alex yells, jumping onto me and making me stumble back. "That was amazing. Fantastic. Brilliant!" she said, blowing a rassberry on my cheek. I giggle, putting her back onto the ground and blushing slightly.

"Thanks, you did great, too!" I say, letting out a laugh, "And neither of us fell!"

After everyone changed out of their costumes, we walked outside, the chilly November air nipping at our necks. I shiver, grabbing my car keys out of my purse and wakling to my car, not noticing when Alex followed me. I jumped, letting out a scream when I felt someones hand on my sides, pinching me slightly. "Alex!" I hissed at her, clutching my chest, "You almost gave me cardiac arrest!" I scolded, stiffling a smile.

"Let's go out tonight!" Alex said, seeming to ignore my tone.

I shook my head quickly, "No, tonights a relaxing night for me, sorry."

Alex pouted her bottom lip out, trying to make puppy eyes, "Well we should hang out anyway."

I laugh at her failed attempt, shaking my head slightly. "Fine,"

And that was how a hour later I found myself sitting with my eyebrows almost getting singed off by some Japanese cook lit almost all the food I was planning to eat on fire right in front of me.

"Jeez Aiden. Did you not know that I actually enjoyed having my eyebrows?" I jokingly questioned the boy who blushed a faint pink and looked away from me to watch our dinner thrown everywhere to cook. and those were some of the only words said during our dinner, as we were eating, more just shovling, food into our awaitng mouths.

Once we got home, us all living in a decent sized apartment near the Ocean Front in Virigina Beach. With the little side jobs that all three of us worked when we weren't dancing or traveling, we affored an apartment to ourselves. No prying parents or college roomies for us, just each other.

After we walked in, we each walked up the stairs in a zombie-like trance and collapsed into our own beds.

With that, we slept like rocks until the morning sun rose.
