9:25 PM. Saturday night, October of 1965.
The snow was falling hard, harder than the usual deep snowfall of Canada. I wasn't supposed to stay up, but Trevor wouldn't stop crying and mom didn't even care.
A new child was something I wasn't expecting mom to bring home, but I've already grown attached to the newborn. I was afraid for the child to die from starvation, even more afraid than I was for myself. Mom didn't feed me, she didn't seem to care about herself, and now that there is a new child, only disaster is yet to come.
I panicked as mom opened the fragile door too my room, the scent of perfume and alcohol drenched the room as she stomped in with her high-heels clacking against the cold wooden floor.
"Thought I told you to go to bed 30 minutes ago, child," She snarled. "Do I need to punish you yet again?"
"N-no mother, Trevor started crying and I didn't know what to do." She replied with a harsh sigh and slamming the door as she left.
Of course, she didn't care about the fact that his bones were soon to stick out like mine, or how I was about to cry just as loudly as he was. She never cares and by the looks of it, she never will.
