My Man's Scandal [ZhanYi ver]

19 - Between love and status

"Will you be fine, Zhan?" Taylor asked as the singer was getting ready to go on the stage. This is his first appearance on the live stage after the scandal broke out. After the scandal, he was instructed to do a recorded performance by all the show, afraid he will get attacked on the stage. Zhan smiled to Taylor.

"I will be fine. The rumour is getting better." Taylor took a breath.

"It's not about that. Shunrong told me what happened earlier." Zhan halted for a while as he was fixing his earpiece. The singer smiled slightly.

"I'm fine." Zhan noticed the cue call. He nodded and turned to Taylor. "This is my first special performance for the second song. Wish me luck." Taylor took a breath and nodded.

"Good luck. Do well and come back safe." Zhan smiled and went to the stage. He stood under the light, flashed the smile to the audience. It went eerie silence, Zhan expected that and he didn't care. There were tiny people paid attention to him along the way he came on the stage but no one cheered. There's no placard for him too. Zhan just smiled. He was a bit grateful there's no throwing thing incident, yet don't know next. The music started, piercing the eerie silence.

Zhan bowed after the song ended. It was still silence but no one showed hate to him. It was enough for him. He flashed a smile and thanked them for listening. He walked back to the stage as MCs took the cue calling the next singer.

Zhan was greeted by Yuanyou and Shunrong in his waiting room. The singer flashed a smile to the two male. "You don't need to come actually." Yuanyou turned to Shunrong. Shunrong took a breath.

"We had to, because-"

"Sean Xiao Zhan!" Shunrong's words were cut off to the sudden interruption. Zhan blinked and startled, he recognized that voice. He didn't turn back while Yuanyou and Shunrong stood up, looking behind Zhan. The door closed, only four of them presented in the room. The lock sound heard and Zhan took a breath. He turned.

"H-hi, Fanxing." Zhan flashed a smile, half-fear half-brave. Fanxing leaned to the door, crossing arms in front of the chest. He stared at Zhan. The new singer took a breath and tried to look more convincing. He didn't know the youngest Wang already knew about the truth yet or not. Yuanyou stepped towards Fanxing.

"Don't stare at him like that. You already been told about the truth." Yuanyou said. Upon those words, Zhan became less tense. But he was still afraid.

"Can't help it." Fanxing exhaled and uncrossed his arms, stepping forward. Zhan's feet nailed to the ground. The youngest Wang was getting closer to him. "I didn't forgive you on the fact you left my precious gege, Zhan-ge." Zhan blinked.

"I- I know."

"But I hate my parents more than I hate you." Fanxing sighed. "My mom is insane. She didn't even feel sorry, ge." The youngest slumped on the seat beside Zhan. Zhan looked at the younger and sat down too. Shunrong and Yuanyou took a relief breath; they thought Fanxing will go furious a bit, like how Yuanyou reacted when the first time he saw Zhan. Maybe the case is different now.

"How... how's he?" Zhan asked. Fanxing exhaled.

"He's crying terribly when I arrived at the house." Fanxing sighed again. Yuanyou had text Fanxing to go and see Yibo, to check his situation. Fanxing who was clueless just followed as Yuanyou told him his elder brother needed his comfort. Fanxing took a breath. "After Yuanyou-ge texts me, I go back and found Dad sat on the couch, crying silently while the house was terribly silence. Yibo-ge was nowhere to be found." Fanxing paused. "I asked Dad about ge and was told he locked himself in the room. I went to get him and ge told me everything."

"Fanxing called me to confirm." Yuanyou added. Fanxing nodded and ran his hands through his face.

"After I called Yuanyou-ge, Mom came up with Dad. I got mad at them because of what they did break Yibo-ge, almost killed himself back then. Dad was kneeling, begging for forgiveness while Mom just shouted, angrily and didn't feel sorry even a tiny bit." A tear slipped Fanxing's eyes. "I do wonder is it she truly our mother?"
