Samara's POV

I waved my final goodbye to my mother and my siblings before I boarded my flight. I still had trouble wrapping my head around the fact I was heading to Maryland for a whole year. I was really excited, yet nervous at the same time.

I also couldn't help but wonder whether or not my mother was going to cope alone with my siblings. I wasn't entirely sure if she was going to manage looking after them without me. I had faith that she would, but in spite of that, there was a little voice at the back of my head, telling me otherwise, which really worried me.

Ever since my father passed away 7 years ago, I took it as my responsibility to look after my siblings alongside my mother. To this day, his death still hurts me.

He was an amazing father, so loving and so family orientated. He loved my mother as much as one could possibly love another. From the moment he laid his eyes on her when they met in Australia, he knew she had to been the one.

My father is Korean/Japanese whereas my mother is North African/French.

I took my seat next to an older couple. I shot them a small smile and they gladly returned one back. The instructions blared through the speaker and I listened as they spoke.

This was my first time flying alone. It was going to be a 14 hour long flight to Los Angeles, then another 5 hour flight to Baltimore.

The rest of the flight consisted of eating, engaging in brief conversations with the elderly couple, sleeping, watching movies and shows.

Finally, we reached Los Angeles. I sighed in relief and stood up immediately, every muscle in my body aching, and screaming for me to stretch them out. I made my way over to the waiting room, waiting patiently for my next flight.

An hour or so passed and my stomach began to growl in hunger. In response, I purchased a coffee and a bagel, nothing too dramatic, just something simple to satisfy me for the time being until my next flight.

Two hours later, I got onto my flight to Baltimore. I sat in between a middle aged man who was wearing business attire. He looked incredibly professional and proper, with his dark hair slicked back. His face remained serious and distant, not bothering to acknowledge my presence.

Sitting on my other side, was a lady who I presumed to be in her late 20s to early 30s. She had a deep tan, I assumed she was from the Middle East. She had dark, perfectly straight, shoulder length hair. She was wearing a navy blazer and a matching navy business skirt that showcased her white blouse.

On the contrary, to the middle aged men who did not acknowledge my presence, the women gave me a welcoming smile. I believe the two were partners.

I had just finished binge watching season 1 and 2 of Naruto, as the flight landed. I got up remembering to grab my carry on bag, as well as my purse. I then quickly went to retrieve my luggage.

Once I was settled, I walked around the airport in hopes to find a sign that had my name printed on it.

When I did, I walked over and found a stranger, who looked around his mid 30s, holding up a sign. He had light brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. He was tall, and stood up rather straight. He was wearing a black suit, and white coloured gloves.

I took a deep breath to calm down my nerves before I mustered up the courage to introduce myself. "Hello, I'm Samara. You must be my host dad." I said with a light smile, holding my hand out for him to shake.

He chuckled in response. "It's nice to meet you too Ma'am but I am not your host father. I am your family driver, Smith." He explained. I noticed he had a strong British accent. He reached out for me to shake his hand and I shook it gladly. My face flushed a light pink in embarrassment and I only hoped that my light brown complexion would hide it.

"Apologises in advance, that Mrs. Rossi wasn't able to make it. She is currently at a social event, hence the absence, and the children are at a school event. Mr. Rossi is also at a meeting. But I am sure you will meet them all at dinner tonight."

I nodded my head lightly in response.

"Well, well, let me carry your luggage."

I gladly handed him my luggage and he began to walk away in the direction of the airport exit. We approached a black SUV that had tinted windows. He put my bag in the back of the car quickly, before he rushed over to open the door for me. I gave him a thankful smile, before I hopped in.

Once he got into the car he informed me that the ride was going to take about an hour and thirty minutes.

"Would you like a beverage?" He asked.

Before I had a chance to reply, he pressed a button which revealed a compartment, filled with water, sodas, wine and beer.

I decided for the water, thanking him, in which he nodded his head in reply in the rearview mirror.

Suddenly, my ringtone went off. I picked it up and read my mothers number flashing on my screen.

"Hi honey, have you landed? Are you safe? How was your flight?" She rambled, in a panicky tone.

"Mum, I'm okay!" I chuckled. "I've already landed and the flight was fine." Leave it to my mum to be so worried. "How are you?"

"I'm good honey. I miss you already." She said with a sigh.

"I miss you too mum. Don't over stress yourself please. Be safe and say hello to Cypress, Colt and Carol for me."

"Okay I will. Stay safe sweetheart. If you need to call me don't hesitate, I'm only one call away. I love you." She choked, I could feel the tears forming in her eyes.

"I will mum. I love you."

I sighed, hanging up. I then put my phone back in my purse. The rest of the ride was quiet. I plugged my earphones in and listened to music and eventually I dozed off.

An hour later, I was woken up by Smith calling my name.

"Samara, we are here." He informed me.

I opened my eyes slowly. The first thing I noticed was the hedges which we were driving by, which lined up and led to the driveway. Once we reached the house, I mean mansion, my jaw dropped to the floor.

There was a fountain right at the front that splashed out water. The mansion was white, and consisted of beautiful tall palm trees. All in all, the thing that awe struck me the most, was the amazing sunset. It was so beautiful, consisting of pink and violet colours.

"Wow, it is so pretty." I said, aloud.

Smith briefly turned around to face me. He nodded his head in amusement. "It is, isn't it." He responded, a smile on his face.

He parked in a spare space in the driveway before shutting off the car. He came to my side and opened the door and I thanked him for the ride before hopping out.

"It was my pleasure Samara, now enjoy your time here." He said getting my luggage from the back and placing them on the gravel.

He hopped back into the car and I waved at him as he slowly drove off.

I walked up the steps and headed over to the large door. I felt a jolt of excitement and nervousness run through me.

Finally, I rang the doorbell and waited patiently for it to open.
