"Can't you run any faster, Jeon?!" A certain platinum-blonde yelled mockingly at his teammate, and also his rival, and the only one that is equal in all skills as him. His feet flew over the grass as he huffed quitely, warming up at the sidelines as he tauntingly raised his eyebrow at his rival, Jeon Jungkook. They were once best friends though they stopped being friends after fighting over some girl. Now, they hated each other's guts to no end. It was stupid, really, but they were teenagers, so what did you expect? Jungkook shot the mocking male a glare, eyes piercing straight through the other's usually warm eyes, now that warmness replaced with ice cold orbs.
"This is only a warm-up pace, though this is already a pace you can't even handle because it's too fast," Jungkook retorded at the annoyed blonde, named Kim Taehyung. Taehyung rolled his eyes as he stretched his triceps some more, waiting for that satisfying 'pop' sound that eventually came. He sighed in satisfaction as he then stretched his calves, all the while crossing his arms and humming loudly- mostly to annoy Jungkook- but also because he was bored. He didn't really like waiting.
As Jungkook finally finished his laps, Taehyung walked to the track field, bumping shoulders with Jungkook- both keeping their balance and pokerfaces as the ravenette rolled his eyes. "Was that even necessary, attention whore?" Jungkook muttered under his breath, earning a smirk from the blonde who was already in his own lane. They had this stupid rule that they could only use one lane at the time, because the track club needs the other lanes to practice for competitions at the same time as the soccer team, and because Taehyung and Jungkook would just injure the other if there were more lanes available. This happened before- right after they had a fight...
You see, on that bad day they had cursed at each other, sent glares and mocking expressions when the other messed up and pushed each other when they were in a radius of 3 meters near them. They just couldn't stand near each other, ever. It was a hot summer day, a saturday, and the opponement had forfeited because they ace player had gotten injured. Since they were such a small team, they only had 10 players so therefore they couldn't play. The track team was also running in a competition so every lane was free. It just had to be the case that Taehyung and Jungkook had to run at the same time in lane one and two. They both got ready to warm up for the run that day, first stretching and afterwards getting ready on their own lanes. They first started to warm up like they were supposed to, though it quickly turned into a race of who the fastest was.
They had both pushed themselves to the limit, and in the last round, Jungkook noticed Taehyung gaining speed. He had held back. Jungkook felt so angry that Taehyung was pretty much mocking his speed by not even using his all. And so he didn't think and let his competitiveness take over, bumping shoulders with Taehyung and elbowed him harshly in his ribs, the blonde letting out a cry of pain before tripping over his own feet as he fell to his knees with his hands on the area where Jungkook elbowed him and let his lips waver. He was a very sensitive boy, Jungkook knew this, but he just didn't care at that point. Taehyung felt a lump in his throat as he tried to keep his tears in. He wasn't gonna cry, not in front of Jungkook even if he had a low pain tolerance.
Jungkook slowed down too once he realized what he did and he looked back, a flash of guilt in his eyes for a milisecond though that guilt faded away when he looked back only to see the blonde glaring at him heavily with watery eyes, trying to stop the tears from falling while the rest of the team rushed to Taehyung's aid. The only thing that went through his mind was 'what a crybaby,' and afterwards 'he deserved it for flirting with her anyway'- even if the girl had clearly rejected them both and claimed she was already happily in love and just didn't know how to tell them because they both seemed to be infatuated with her.
Back to the present, the moment Jungkook finished his laps, Taehyung stretched and jogged to the starting line, before sharing a look with his best friend, Yoongi, to start the timer. Taehyung loved to always break his own records. He knew that, because he was the boy's best friend for the longest time. His eyes roamed to Yoongi, the sweetheart of the team as he gulped. He still remembers a time when he was on his spot, pressing the button of the stopwatch and helping Taehyung. They always brought the best out of each other.
