Jungkook stood there, phone in his now lowered hand, mouth slightly agape in confusion, brows furrowed as he tried to decipher the mystery called Kim Taehyung. Why didn't he want to exchange phone numbers? He tried to think of reasons- logical reasons- of why he didn't feel comfortable doing so. As if reading Jungkook's confusion on que, Taehyung replied, "What's the use? I don't trust you to be close to me again yet... And after we've ended things, it'll probably all be over, right? Really it has no good use, and there's better things to do than to exchange numbers. We won't even text that often," He voiced out his thoughts, although Jungkook believed it was all some kind of lame excuse. Taehyung was great at beating around the bush, he's had that talent since they were young. If anyone would know, it was Jungkook. He had known the older for a long time, after all.
But basically, what he said was among the lines of 'I don't trust you with my phone number.' Somewhere in his mind, the ravenette wanted to understand the blonde, though he could only view him with hypocricy, as Jungkook changed his phone number because of Taehyung and his friends to begin with. He had no other choice. If you want to know what happened, Taehyung's gang basically wounded him, threatened him and hurted him, in more ways than one. The younger couldn't deal with it all, as he wasn't the only one at fault, and he was stressing so much that even his dad noticed it. As last resort option, Jungkook chose to change his phone number to avoid talking to Taehyung ever again, and with that, the tormenting from the older stopped.
And Jungkook did trust Taehyung with his phone number again. Therefore, the younger was flabbergasted to hear the reasoning behind not wanting to exchange phone numbers. But who was he to decide how Taehyung felt about this all? Their relation was messed up, and the trust wasn't there just quite yet. No problem, Jungkook had initially thought. But if the older didn't even want to give 10 numbers that would get him access to that person's social life, then he didn't know if they could rebuild what they had both broken, beaten up, bashed near to death before burning it, letting the ashes blow with what little wind there was.
Jungkook sighed, before nodding softly. It wasn't even that noticeable. If Taehyung would've looked up, he would make it out as a gesture. However, his brown orbs were fixated on the tiles of the terrain, not paying any mind to Jungkook at all. To people that knew them, it would probably be a weird sight. Seeing them stand together, quiet, no bickering or big gestures that would be hints of a big fight, but just standing there. Two lost souls, trying to get on good terms again. It was a rather pitiful sight, really.
Silence engulved them, until the ravenette came up with an argument as of why he should give his phone number. Otherwise things wouldn't progress. So he turned to look at Taehyung, the sudden change of angle from his head caught Taehyung's attention, eyes flickering up at Jungkook's before he straightened his position as well. The younger seemed to have to want to say something. "If you won't give it, Taehyung, how are we supposed to mend things? We need to have a location, date as well as time!" He deadpanned, as Taehyung softly hummed in response, as he began thinking of a solution.
"I'm too tired right now. I want to have a good meal with some good rest, and-" he said, the start of another excuse of not wanting to talk right now, but the younger did have none of it, throwing the excuse away to the trash, where it rightfully belonged. "Taehyung, do you want us to get some kind of closure or not?" He asked, tone low and serious, yet not threatening. Threats would be the worst thing right now, and Jungkook knew better than to use that.
Wind danced around them and played with Taehyung's blonde locks, massaging them softly as they blew through his hair. He sighed, releasing his own wind to go along with the breeze. "The thing is... I'm scared it'll blow up again..." He explained, though he didn't expect any answer. And so, he didn't receive one. Jungkook was listening whole-heartedly, nodding to his words.
The older then sighed, closing his eyes in thought. Jungkook swore he heard Taehyung's brains creak to find a happy memory of them, a place where they were okay. Where they were happy and laughing and having fun with each other. Going back to such a place, where everything was better, would bring them joy and comfort. It would make talking easier, without any rude turns of events.
An idea popped up into Taehyung's head. He remembered the nearby Starbucks. It was always heaven to them. Even though Taehyung didn't like coffee (he still doesn't), he loved the smell of the café when he entered the small place. It was a good eyesight and he liked the aesthetics going on. Besides that, he loved the chattering of the people in the background along with the smell of freshly brewn coffee. He used to go there with Jungkook a lot, and then they'd order the Starbucks Hot Chocolate. It was heaven in your mouth.
"Do you remember the Starbucks on Itaewon Street? The small one? The one we went to when we were kids?" He asked slowly, looking up at Jungkook. Something in Taehyung's heart fluttered when Jungkook didn't even need to think and chuckled, nodding his head yes without any hesitation.
"It was my favorite coffee shop, of course I remember it," He replied, a firm smile endearing his face as Taehyung smiled softly. He then stepped away from Jungkook, slowly walking to his bicycle as he waved Jungkook goodbye. Leaving Jungkook behind with many questions, he simply turned his head sideways as he grinned, showing his boxy smile. Jungkook would be lying if he said he didn't miss that smile. It gave him hope and happiness. Seeing it made the lingering tension in the air completely disappear.
Taehyung was happy.
Probably because he reminiscized about the past and how beautiful and colorful it looked when it was him and his best friend, Jeon Jungkook.
"This wednesday we have a free day. Meet me there at 11 AM!" He yelled back at Jungkook, who gasped softly at the firmness and determination in Taehyung's voice. He sounded sure, without any hesitation. He wanted to meet Jungkook and either end things permanently or pick it up and go from there.
Jungkook snapped out of his thoughts when he saw Taehyung grin again, spinning on his feet while walking backward as he faced Jungkook. "Take me back to the place we love!"
