The urge to control her throbbing heart was becoming more and more with every passing second as she knew she couldn't just get out of the car, confront them and ask why they had been following her car for past one hour. She couldn't think straight. It seemed as if they were not supposed to harm her, but to make her nervous in every possible way so that she would take a stupid step on her part.
She noticed a black luxurious car following her car when she took a turn towards the main road on her way back from Joy's home.At first ,she just ignored but then she felt chills running down her spine as the car continuously maintained its normal speed and kept on following her even when she kept on taking turns .Controlling her nerves, she looked for her cellphone but couldn't find it inside her car or any of her jacket's pockets! Her brain kept on struggling to remember who could it be? and why would someone follow me? but all in vain, as it was becoming difficult for her to focus on one point at that intensive moment.
Meanwhile , her grip on steering wheel tightened; her eyes kept on shifting from back mirror to side mirror. She pressed the racing paddle and her other hand simultaneously reached the gearstick , clutching it firmly. Just as she accelerated, a huge blow struck the trunk of her car! She felt her head crushing into the seat. Only if she hadn't worn that seatbelt , she might have had a serious brain injury due to that impulsive jerk . It seemed like a game of moments. With in no second , her car stopped promptly! As soon as the previous events got themselves registered inside her head, she impatiently twisted the ignition key but she could see ; not a hope! She spontaneously glanced the side mirror , where only the two headlights were coruscating that narrow road ; obviously she didn't know where she had ended just in order to ditch them. That car had stopped already and one of its door opened. She didn't even wait a second to look at the man coming out of the car. She speedily opened the door and started to run towards her front direction. She had no other option; the road was surrounded by enormous trees on both sides. Without looking behind her and taking full advantage of being a fast runner , she hastily ran towards the forest .
Now , she was running abruptly in the thick dark forest. She didn't know which lead to take or where that path ended but the one thing she knew for sure was that it was the best place to conceal herself or hide. The footsteps behind her gave her the idea that they were not running, instead following her through their same calm pace; plus they did not seem to be just two. About three ? or four?
While running, she hit the bottom of the rock and sprained her ankle ,but the least she cared about was her pain. She wanted to escape; escape from people she didn't know. Neither did she know about their motive. She tried to get up, holding her knee by both hands exerting all weight on her toes. She couldn't hear the footsteps anymore."Perhaps they are just behind me and stopped because they saw me falling." Gulping with fear, she for the first time managed to turn around but to her surprise, only the dark shadows of trees welcomed her vision; she turned her head about 180 degrees but couldn't find any figure. She coped to take a few steps with the pain in her ankle and saw her surroundings more observantly ; the white light of the full moon was engraving different patterns on the shadows of those thick barky branches of the trees. The only sound striking her ears was the sound of her irregularly beating heart , dominating every other sound of that creepy place. Barely walking, she stared at every direction in hope to find shelter where she could make it till morning. On her left side, she witnessed a glimpse of goldenish light; without any second thought she walked towards that glisten which sparkled a ray of hope in her heart.
Just after five minutes, she could clearly see a small hill top and there were big rocks all over it; randomly distorted — illumination came somewhere behind it.After climbing it, she noticed it was much like a cave but its opening was covered with a stone; not big enough to not be removed. Something in the back corner of her mind continuously stopped her,but "Hazel and her curiosity !" She put all her strength to remove that stone and finally succeeded in her third attempt.
It was a very small , dusty cave; seemed as if no one had ever taken refuge in here for centuries , but she was shocked to see a hell lot of fireflies there. Perhaps God helped her through His own creatures! She took a sigh of relief and entered the cave but little did she know was that she was stepping into a hell hole!
What she saw next took a scream out of her soar throat ; now her legs were trembling for the first time in this night.
"O..hohh........my...God!"
