' Schizo. What ? '
'Schizophrenic hallucination ' , joy repeated , ' its kinda mental disorder .'
'I don't have any .'
" Possibly , but this situation can also be caused by environmental stress besides genetic basis . Point to be duly noted , zero fatality rate with 100 % cure , of course , unless you have repeated visual delusions ".
Joy reported without a single break . Her eyes still on phone screen trying to get something out of it . Little did she know – the supposed to be listener – was not standing there anymore . Hazel had just just entered her classroom and joy was still there in corridors – all alone with her little google research .It was the morning next to hazel's birthday and all that vanishing tattoo incident . Hazel had been in shock since morning because whatever she saw last night was not there anymore . No tingling , no etching . As if it was a nightmare . She could not tell anything to her mom at least not now . And The first person she could tell all this to was joy and the least she could expect from her was to call her a mere hallucinating psycho.
7:30 a.m , half an hour before the commencement of their first lecture - english literature . Joy entered the class with a red face and sat right next to hazel .' Sometimes it really sucks to be around you .' Joy smashed her notepad on the desk .
' Mutual feelings honey ' , hazel murmured but loud enough to be heard .
'Well , i doubt that .' A familiar voice break in .
' bravo , its what you call a legendary start of the day .' Joy mumbled in frustration.
Hazel looked at her right side to only see clara and jane coming towards them . Her mind quickly started popping up with possible excuses 'bout not inviting them to her birthday party . One might be thinking why didn't she invite them ? Well here it goes ! One of the many rules in hazel's handbook was , hi judgemental peeps , bye judgemental peeps – nothing more to it . Jane was a nice guy actually , in-fact one must say " too good for clara " — but clara ! Hazel couldn't bear to be around her . Probably she hated the way clara treats everyone around . Discouraging , judging and taunting - always , but sometimes you have to do things you don't like to . And clara enjoyed a great privilege of being Jane's girlfriend.
' hey hazel , how'as your birthday night .' It was Jane .
' yeah it was good . Actually very good .' Hazel replied , ' sorry I couldn't invite you jane , infact I could . Totally . Not .' Rolling her eyes towards clara and Completely ignoring her presence she talked to Jane and he understood everything with that " oh yea " wink . After all , they were childhood friends and he knew how much hazel disliked clara .
Three classes were gone and it was their after class break when hazel saw Jennie , her classfellow running towards her .
' Hazel Mathewson ! happy post-birthday .'
'Thanks jennie , but you didn't have to run all the way down here to wish me .'
'No , actually a very handsome man told me to deliver this to you as your birthday present .'
'Me ? But Who was he ? Any name ?'
' No name , just smile .'
There was something off about Jennie . She was not she at that moment . Hazel couldn't interpret what exactly but there was , definitely.
Thanks .
Before opening the envelope, she glanced a look at joy who nodded slightly. It was a blank white envelope . Inside, there was a note which apparently took away all the expressions from hazel's face leaving it blanked and empty .
