He called it a date. As if my anxiety couldn't catch a goddamn break. Going home, my mind raced, thinking exactly how it could go terribly wrong. Seriously, we're talking two time freezing people on a date in a public park. Anything could happen

When I got home, Axel and Maya pounced on me, yelling, "What happened?! What happened?!" How the hell did they know something was up with me? They're like mom, but with less knowledge of when to drop it.

"Leave me alone! I'm busy! I've got to do homework you oversized rats!" I headed up to my room, still trying to process the fact that I would be meeting up with Theo today. Like any rational person, my immediate thought was what do I wear. Cuz all relationships are built upon looks. How else are you supposed to show how cool (or not cool) you are?

I quickly decided upon a black and red plaid skirt, a black shirt, and a black and red flannel. Good enough. I don't usually wear skirts all the time, so maybe it'll show him I'm actually trying. Or at least show myself. Eyeliner is easy now, I've worn it since 9th grade. Otherwise, I think I'm good. Screw homework. I need to focus on more life threatening subjects, such as dates.

I put on my boots and head to the park.

Theo was waiting for me next to a tree near the lake.

"Damien!" He called over to me, waving and smiling like an adorable idiot. Adorable? Shut up brain.

Walking over to him, I say, "Hey."

Instantly he asks, "What's your favorite movie?"

"Seriously?"

He responds with, "Well, I kinda know how your day's been since we've seen each other today, and it's a very important question." That logic checks out, I guess.

"Star Trek: Into Darkness, I guess."

Theo looks at me with a look of shock, mouth open. When he finally spoke he said, "You don't like Star Wars!?"

"Oh my god, you can like both Star Wars and Star Trek, and have one of their movies be your favorite!" Seriously, don't let him be a toxic Star Wars fan. They suck.

He takes what I said into consideration and says, "That makes sense. I mean, I like DC and Marvel, so I get it."

"Cause this conversation has been going so well."

Theo looks scared and says, "Please don't go you're super cool!" He thought I was gonna go? And he was scared about it? That's...thoughtful?

"Woah woah woah, I'm not leaving yet bud. You haven't given me a reason to, and you're pretty cool too." Pretty cool? Seriously? That's what I'm telling him? I'm such a fucking idiot.

Still, he looks at me thankfully and says, "Thanks. I was a bit worried I ruined it."

I smile. "Hey, it's cool man."

Theo looks away, thinking, before asking,"Do you have siblings?"

"Yeah, two. Axel and Maya. They're little bastards. Not in the traditional sense of course. You?"

"Nah, just me." He looks kinda disappointed about that fact.

To cheer him up I say,"You wouldn't want siblings. They annoy the shit out of me. You're better off without them. You'll get more christmas presents."

He looks away sadly, just the way he did during school today, and says,"Yeah well, at least you're not stressed to take on the family business." Oh. That makes sense why he'd want siblings.

"Well that's shitty." I say, and he laughs lightly and says,"Let's talk about something else. Please?"

"Sure," I look him straight in the eyes and say,"What's your favorite tv show?"

After a long ass conversation on how we totally should've been shown the flapjack boyfriend's date in season 2 instead of having to wait for season 3 to come out, Theo asks, "So about the whole powers thing, do you know like, everything, or are there some mechanics you don't know?"

I pause before saying,"I'm betting I don't know half the shit about stopping time that I should to be safe. Hell, I could have ripped up space-time and we wouldn't know."

Theo smiles and says,"Well, I like any space-time where we've met." Goddamnit. Please stop being so fucking cute. I'm begging you

Like the dumbass I am,"Well, I'm sure there's a universe where we're mortal enemies and we try to murder each other every day. That's surely one of your space-times where we've met."

"You know what I meant! I meant happily!" He looks away. Is he blushing? Am I blushing?

Finally Theo says,"Damien, I'm glad I met you."

"I'm glad I met you two, Theo."

And I kiss him on the cheek.

-Author's note-

-That escalated quickly. Sorry for not posting for a while, I've been on vacation for the past few weeks. I'm finally chilling at my grandparent's house, since the town I live in is in the news for worst Covid-19 case count. I guess this is just a note to tell you guys to stay safe. You wouldn't wanna get sick and die before the next chapter comes out. How else will you know what happens? But seriously, stay safe kiddos! Love you!-
