(Quick A/N...this was requested by MysteriousGirl560! And this oneshot is a little different! I was requested a picture, the pic of Raph at the grave on the cover, and made my own story based on that pic...make sense? Read on!)

*Gives out tissues because this is going to be very sad*

~*~

Raph sat on the grass outside of the farmhouse, kneeling over a tiny cross stuck down in the dirt. A small paler sign was pinned to the wood.

'Spike'

A tear escaped the mutant's emerald green eyes as he stared at the tiny gravesite with a glazed look in his eyes.

It just didn't seem real. Three days ago, his beloved pet was sitting on his shoulder, chewing on his mask tails, as he often did...

And now, Spike...or Slash, as he was now called, was gone. Mutated. He had fled the city, taking Raph's happiness with him.

A small sob choked Raph as he covered his mouth with his hand. His mind flashed back to the first time he had found Spike.

He'd only been a tot, walking through the sewers when he'd found the tiny baby tortoise in a corner of the sewers, hurt and alone.

5-year-old Raph was walking through the tunnels of the sewers, grumbling to himself as he stomped around.

"Stupid Leo...why'd I have to get in trouble? It was his fault!" He muttered as he kicked a stone out of his path.

Sudden, something caught his eye...a baby tortoise with a crack in his carapace was hiding, looking lonely.

Raph curiously walked over to him his bad mood forgotten. "What's a little guy like you doing down here?"

The tortoise looked up at him and walked to him. Raph picked him up and held him in his hands.

"You're kinda cute...do you want to be my friend?" He asked. The tortoise nibbled on Raph's mask tails in response.

Raph smiled a little. "I think I'll call you....Spike!" He then took him home, talking to him the while way home.

Master Splinter was waiting for him back at the lair. "There you are, my son...I was just about to come looking for you..." He said in relief.

Raph looked up at his father and held up his new friend. "Look what I found! Can I keep him? Please?"

The wise rat eyed the tortoise. "Hmm, very well, Rapheal...you may keep him...if you promise to card for him."

Raph hugged his sensei's legs with gratitude. "I will, I promise! Thank you, dad, thank you!"

That day, Raph had a new best friend...

And now, he was gone...

Flashback over:

Raph started to cry as he remembered the moment. He wasn't even sure he could wear his mask anymore... Spike always chewed his mask...

"Oh Spike..." He wept into his hands. "You were the only one who really understood me! The one I was able to talk to the most!"

He collapsed on the dry earth as sobs overtook him. He suddenly felt four figures kneel close to him and wrap their arms around him, trapping him in a tight embrace.

He looked up, as tears pouring from his eyes blurred his vision. "Just let it out..." Leo mumbled to him.

Raph tried to speak, but couldn't do he just leaned into his family as they held him, muttering to him comfortingly.

"It's going to be okay, Raph..." Mikey whispered as he stroked Raph's head. "We're all here for you, bro..."

Raph didn't say a word as he continued to cry, letting all his grief and sorrow pour out of him into gasping sobs.

Donnie patted Raph's carapace comfortingly. "Mikey's right...Spike may be gone, but we're still here..."

He nodded at that, and sniffled. Master Splinter put his paw delicately on Raph's shoulder. "We'll always be here, my son..."

For a while, the red-masked turtle didn't move. He just leaned in his family's embrace and wept. And they just held him, letting him mourn.

Finally, after about 20 minutes, the tears cut off and Raph got up, rubbing his red and puffy eyes. He couldn't believe he's cried like that...

In front of them....

Master Splinter seemed to read his thoughts and rubbed Raph's head. "You do not have to be ashamed of showing your emotions..."

Raph nodded. "I know..." He mumbled as he looked at the grave. Mikey glanced at him. "Hey bro...you uh know Spike isn't dead....right?

Again, Raph nodded. He knew that Spike and Slash were the same mutant. But, in a way, he felt like Spike had died the moment he mutated into Slash.

"Yeah..." He rubbed the back of his neck. "I know, Mikey..." He then looked at the grave. Nothing was there, of course...just a rock.

Leo placed his hand on Raph's shoulder. "We're not judging you, you know...it's okay to mourn like this, after all...Spike was your pet."

Raph looked at him with a small smile. "Thanks Leo..." He mumbled as he looked at the rest of his family.

Donnie smiled and moved forward, placing a hand on the small cross at the base of his feet. Mikey, Leo and Master Splinter did the same.

They stood around him, forming a group hug around him as they looked at the little wooden cross.

"Goodbye, Spike..."
