Phil has been my best friend since I was 8. Not a day has gone by when we haven't been together. When we were 9, we used to walk to school and talk about Hot Wheels and Moshi Monsters, and when we were 12, we would always go to the movies on a Friday and try to get girls (which usually wasn't successful).
Although since a young age, I knew that I wasn't attracted to girls. I never really liked the fact they plastered make-up all over their faces and wore high heels and skimpy outfits. For me, having a guy as your partner sounded better. It seemed like you could relate more and enjoy yourself more. The problem is though, I live in a community where gays, bisexuals and lesbians aren't accepted very well. My parents aren't impressed about the idea either. Infact, when I was younger, my parents used to pull hideous faces at each other when they saw same-sex relationships. It horrified me. And to think that I might have faces pulled at me by my parents, my kin, just for being gay, is my worst nightmare.
Phil has ocean blue eyes and soft black hair. He also has an emo fringe that suits him really well. He's tall, around 6' 2", so not as tall as me, and slim. His dress sense is also on point; plaid shirts, black skinny jeans, cute sweaters (with unicorns and lions) and Converse. He is truly a great friend to have... though I do wish so often that he was more.
So, my plan is that this Christmas, I'm going to ask him to be my boyfriend. It sounds radical, I know, but I've seen him looking more towards 'downtown' than my eyeline recently. I'm an adult now, I know what I'm doing, and I'm not going to let anybody in my way.
He's my best friend after all - who doesn't want their partner to be their best friend?
