4 - Betty Cooper - 4

'Your goal is to find your sister, Polly. She escaped from the Sisters of Quiet Mercy and no one has heard from her since,' Pop Tate told me over the counter of his diner.

I headed out of the diner and walked straight to the Wyrm where Jughead would be. I figured that, with his motorbike, we could search for Polly together.

'Hey Jug, Archie,' I greeted the two boys as I walked up to the old pub.

'Betty,' Jughead began, looking at me, 'Penny escaped, I let her go and she left without telling me what it was that I wanted from her,' he told me, a grim look on his face.

'We should search for her, my sister is missing so we can look for her at the same time,' I suggested, addressing both of the boys.

'Let's start in some of the buildings surrounding the Wyrm, Penny only left about ten minutes ago, she can't be far,' Jughead said.

We wandered along the road that the Whyte Wyrm was on until we came to the building next to it. It was an abandoned convenience store.

'Let's check this out,' Archie said, pushing a plank of wood out of the battered doorway.

The interior was hardly recognisable. Shelves were half fallen down and smashed glass covered the floor. It was a mess.

'No sign of Polly,' I sighed as we reached the final aisle of the old store.

'Or Penny,' Jughead added.

We left that building and kept walking. We walked past a few old buildings, there was a hair salon that had long closed down and an old travel agency that we looked inside of. No sign of anyone.

Beginning to lose hope, I was relieved when my phone began to buzz.

'Hey Roni,' I said after reading my best friend's name on the screen.

'Betty,' she started, 'my father just had a phone call from one of his employees at the old Southside High saying that someone has been kidnapped and held hostage in there, they think it could be your sister,' she explained, rushing her words.

'What??' I cried, this wasn't what I'd been expecting, 'okay, I'll be there as soon as I can.'

I hung up and turned to the boys. They both looked at me, questioning why I sounded so surprised on the phone.

'Polly is at the old Southside High, we have to go,' I explained, leaving out a few details.

'Okay, you and I can take my bike, Archie stay here and keep looking for Penny, call me if you find her,' Jughead ordered, quickly heading off in the direction of the Wyrm, where the bike was parked.

'How did she get there?' Jughead asked as we jogged back in the same direction we came from.

'She was kidnapped,' I replied.

We reached the bike and I got on first with Jughead behind me. He gave me his helmet.

It was only a five minute drive from the Wyrm to the school but it could've been five hours, everything passed in a blur until we were inside the school.

In the main corridor that hundreds of students used to walk down was my sister, barely recognisable.

She was stick thin and very pale, she had cuts and bruises all over her body.

She was tied to a chair and around ten of Hiram's employees that were supposed to be knocking the school down were surrounding her, staring at her.

'Someone cut those ropes then!!' I screamed, frustrated that they were all just watching.

Three men immediately began cutting the ropes, trying to free her.

After a few minutes, there were no more ropes.

Polly stood up and tried to walk towards me but she was very weak. I ran up to her and held her, she was close to collapsing to the ground but I steadied her.

Jughead rushed to the side of me and bent to the floor. I didn't know what he was doing.

'Betty...' he said. He had a piece of paper in his hand.

He passed it to me after reading it, I grabbed it whilst still trying to support Polly.

You may have won that battle, Jones, but this war isn't over yet.

'Penny kidnapped my sister to save herself from you?' I questioned.

Jughead nodded in agreement.

'Yay I won!' Lili exclaimed, high-fiving Cole who was stood next to her. 'It's so sad that Penny would kidnap Polly to get back at Jug, what a horrible town to live in.'

Everyone nodded in agreement.
