Jay's phone buzzed. Before she knew it, fall quarter was already halfway over. Another week flew by of monotonous cooking, chores, track meets, and other classes. It was Saturday again. Everyone seemed busy. She was currently texting the girls.
Jay: guysss it's Saturday! why r all y'all so busy?!
Haewon: I'm srry Jay <3 I had to pick up extra weekend shifts
Sunmi: Boss is making us work more hours now shorry
Jay: wahhhh it's been forever tho!!!! i need updates???
Haewon: I'll stop by after my shift and bring some bread hehe

Haewon: fosho fosho

Sunmi: i'm gonna be on campus all day! dw about me!
Jay: party pooper
Sunmi: it's the adult life deal with it
Jay: middle finger emoji*
Haewon: sigh i miss us
Jay closed her eyes after reading the text. It has been a while since the girls have gotten together. She had no idea what was going on with anyone. Haewon would send her updates on her webtoon. Apparently she was spending a lot of time with Yohan, Sangjun, and this new girl Aram. Sunmi just had internship. Haewon says she's secretly dating someone but I haven't heard anything. And I've just been doing my own thing. Dad's been working longer hours so she stayed most of the time cooking and helping with homework. Juggling classes, track practice, and family sucked the life out of her week.
Jin popped his head in her room. "Did you just wake up?" Jay rolled over on her bed. "Yeah why? Where'd you go?" Jin folded his arms, tsking her. "I just dropped off Junghwan at weekend school cause you wouldn't wake your lazy ass up." Jay jumped up. "WHAT? What time is it?" She checked her phone again. It was already 11am. She was supposed to make Junghwan's lunch but completely overslept. She pictured Junghwan's puppy dog face starving.
"Oh my God." She shoved Jin aside before scrambling in the kitchen to put together some lunch. "I promised Junghwan I would make his favorite omelette rice." Jin yawned. "Well you better hurry before he dies of starvation." Jay threw an oven mitt at him. "Make yourself useful and water our garden or something." Jin saluted her. "Yes sir!" She glared at him before going back to the rice cooker. "Actually can you cut some green onions?"
After rushing for half an hour, she managed to pack the lunch. But she made too much. Dad was stuck at work till late and she and Jin had already eaten while cooking. Wait it's Saturday? I wonder if Kangdae is working again...she wasn't sure what got into her, but she decided to pack a second lunch box. He did give the rice.
Jay checked the time. She had exactly twenty minutes till the scheduled lunch time. She threw on some sneakers, a cap, and bolted out the door. After barely making it, she talked with Teacher Kim a bit. Apparently he started talking to someone his friend introduced. Some Korean native who happened to study abroad in France. It seemed like things were going well for him. "How about you? Any guys?" Jay shook her head. "Pah-lease. You should see the guys at our school. They don't even have the balls to confess to my face." He laughed. "Oh so you're little miss popular at school?" They chatted for a bit before she started heading home. Haewon was gonna come over soon.
