That night, the family celebrated Sunny's success by going out to the mall's pizza parlor.
"Abuela Sofia would've been proud, mija," Lucia smiled.
"I have the feeling she already is," Sunny smiled back. "Of course, now that I'm in high school, I'll have more on my plate than I did before."
"You just need to organize your time," Bernardo told her. "Abuela always had a lot on her plate, working as a music teacher and participating in orchestras. When your mother was born, Abuela did all she could to continue doing what she loved and still make time for her."
"Aw," Sunny gushed. "I want to follow Abuela's footsteps."
"And you will," Derek told her.
After dinner, Sunny was in her room, writing in her journal about what happened. She never wanted anyone to bash on her the way Beebe and Cusco did, but she also never wanted to lose this feeling that each day is special, that she could always count on her family, and that if they stuck together, they can make it through just about anything. Sunny put her journal aside, turned off the light, and fell asleep.
