The wind blew with a thousand knives, but was unable to penetrate the overwhelming excitement that poured out of the two boys that dared enter the chilling sea of white evergreen trees."So, if what I'm hearing is true," the blonde boy rambled on as he led his husband by the hand through the frozen, glassy wonderland, "it should be around here somewhere..."
The following boy, who stood out like a cardinal against the pale background, let out a pure hearted chuckle as he let himself fall into a state of bliss at the sight of the overly determined, scene haired boy, "would you just tell me already? We've been walking for like, what... twenty minutes? My feet are wet."
"Oh, boo hoo. I told you to wear a pair of my boots, but you didn't listen. It shouldn't be too much longer."
Behind the curtain of thick, bushy branched trees, the pair spotted, what looked like, a painting clipped right out of a storybook. Boulders the size of cattle calves sprinkled the landscape like a nest of overgrown rabbits; each tucked in oh so gently with a fine blanket of snow. At its center was a waterfall, frozen in time by Old Man Winter himself. It was absolutely breathtaking.
The blonde bolted, nearly pulling Eijiro's arm out of socket as he dragged him to the edge of the crystallized pond, and perched himself on top of the nearest rock like a Gargoyle, "feet still wet, pouty pants?"
Eijiro sighed in a loving, yet jokingly irritated manner, and climbed up beside him, "don't know why I ever doubt you, Katsuki."
"I'll try not to hold it against you..."
Silence overtook them as they let the soothing atmosphere take over. But, to be expected, the excitable blonde was up, and about within a few minutes' time; the way he hopped, and skipped across nature's playground mirrored that of an agile ballerina on her career's final performance of Swan Lake.
The boy kept at it, until he was face to face with the steep incline that held the frozen ice, and called out to that chilled out husband of his without looking back, "I wanna climb this bitch."
"Yeah, okay spidermonkey," the redhead sighed, and leaned himself back against one of the taller rocks, and let his eyes fall shut, "just be careful, might be icy."
"'M always careful," a few well placed hands to test the stability preceded the first step, "besides, there's plenty of footing. An amature could scale this thing easily."
"Alright," despite the temperature, a nap would have been entirely possible for the boy at that moment, with the peaceful atmosphere they were surrounded by, "let me know when you get up there. I'll take a picture for you."
And with that, the first step was taken; then the second, third, and so on... all the way to the top; where he stood, and called down proudly, "HEY!"
The boy cracked an eye open, just slightly, and let a smirk fall across his lips at the sight of the dork that had his whole heart, "you look like a pirate."
"That meant to be a compliment?"
"Nothing less," he slipped the phone out, and forced himself into a sitting position, "look to the left a bit, and put a hand down. Smirk a bit too, it'll look cooler."
The blonde did just that, as he glanced back down for confirmation, "like this?"
"Perfect!"
That smirk grew a little wider at the sound of the excitement in the redheads voice, as he stood there awaiting the clicking sound of the camera, "we good?"
"Uh," a few more just for good measure, until he finally nodded, and slipped the device back in his pocket once more, "yep. All set. You wanna stay longer, or can we go back? I really am starting to get cold."
