Calm | Mammon × Gender Neutral! Reader

- My grip on the pen tightened as I stared at the half-filled paper with tired eyes, looking up to see the familiar group of co-workers who were happily talking with eachother.

- I didn't notice when my empty cup fell down from my desk due to the motion of own elbow. I couldn't have saved it when it wasn't for the random co-worker who passed by me.

- He swiftly grabbed the cup before it made contact with the floor. "You should be more careful with that!--"

- "-- Oh, (y/n) - senpai! I heard you got a promotion today. Congrats!" his voice beside me boomed, placing his hand on my shoulder.

- Reality finally hits once I came back from my short mind bubble, a tired smile stretched itself upon my lips. "Thanks, Takeda. Glad I got it after a weeks worth of pure hard work"

- "God.. wish I could be as hard working as you" Going back to his work, my smile faltered once I was gone from his eyesight.

- 'I need more, it's not enough. No one deserves it except me. I need more, more, more..'

- Slapping myself in the cheek, the sound alerted the man who gave a shocked and confused expression. " S- senpai-- ?!"

[ Time Skip ]

- Sitting down in the vacant train, My eyes starred down on my lap. Looking up into the window, I noticed how bad my eyebags were. 'I look like a potential serial killer..' I chuckled to myself at the thought, reliefed that no one else was around.

- It's been almost 2 days since I got proper rest, my thoughts always flooded my mind. And everytime, it always seemed to be about Greed. 'So not only do I have to go through an endless cycle of bad luck, but my mind started to fail on me too'.

- My mind flooded itself once more before my bag, that was sitting idely on the seat next to me, dropped down. The zip was somehow open and the content all spilled onto the floor, files flying everywhere.

- 'I'm passing out once I get home'

[ Time Skip ]

- The door made a loud clicking noise once I unlocked it with the keys given.

- I walked into the apartment and quickly took off my shoes near the entrance before dragging myself towards the couch, after tripping on thin air. Once I arrived in my destination, i practically melted into the cushions.

- Stretching the face mask away from my mouth, I let out a yawn before feeling a weight laid upon my lap.

- Looking down, my eyes met with a pair of ocean blue ones. Blanking out for a second, I continued to stare at the figure sprawled across my thighs.

- "Aren't ya' gonna say something, human?"

- Once realisation hit me, I looked up to the ceiling with half-lidded eyes. "If you're here to kill me, do it quickly"

- I felt the weight dissappear before his loud voice shot through my ear.

- "Don't ya' realise there's a demon here human?!" " I didn't even realise you were a demon, looked more like a robber to me" "Oi!--" "And could you not scream in my ear? I'm tried from work already"

- The man stood up and crossed his arms infront of me, one of his foot resting on the couch right beside my right thigh.

- "Ya' got any idea who I am? I'm the sin of Greed! Mammon-sama!"

- After his name rolled out of his tongue, I stood up and quickly grabbed his wrist, pulling him close to my face. "You were the one behind this?"

- I felt Mammon sweating as he starred at me with a weird and confused look. Suddenly, his face showed an expression that looked like a light bulb appeared on top of his head.

- "Oh yeah, my annoying brothers kept saying that haunting a human could hurt them in some way but I thought that was all a bunch of baloney"

- Tightening the grip on the demons wrist, I sighed and looked off to the side in an attempt to calm myself down. Then, I let go of his hand.

- "Geez.. you humans are such a hassle to take care of" Mammon mumbled whilst rubbing his wrist.

- Humming, I took off my trench coat before looking at him with unamused eyes. "So, what are you gonna do to me? kill me? 'sacrifice me to Satan'?" "Satan? He's not interested in those kinda stuff!"

- I felt my headache growing with each word coming out of his mouth.

- "Are you and your brothers like the seven deadly sins or something?" I asked whilst stretching my arms and legs. "Yeah! We're practically the rulers of hell, so be lucky that The Great Mammon chose a human like you!" "How long did it take you to come up with a name like that?" "Why are you so rude?!"

- Standing up, I walked into the kitchen, opening the plate cabinet ontop of me and grabbing a bowl. I forgot to close the cabinet though and failed to realise a plate falling down ontop of my head.

- "Watch out!-"

- I heard running before a shadow loomed over me. Looking up and seeing a dark hand holding onto a serving platter right above my head. "You humans are so careless! You could've damaged your head with one of these!"

- Amusement washed over my eyes as I gently took the plate from his hands. "Thanks.. you saved me from fracturing my skull again" " 'AGAIN'?!"

- I took his hand in mines and shook it formally. "(y/n). (y/n) (l/n), try not to call me 'human' from now on" "O- oh.. uhmm.. the names Mammon" "I already knew your name from the start Mammon.."

- His face blushed a dark red hue. "Whatever.. stupid" I hummed whilst continuing to make the cereal. "By the way, why did you choose me out of everyone else?"

- Mammon stuttered and spitted out incoherent words as his blush darkened. "I just thought you were interesting to mess with, that's all!"

- Starring at him with half-lidded eyes, a smiled before giggling. "So, does that mean we're like partners from now on?" "Yeah! But the real deal comes once you're able to make a pact with me"

- I smiled at him before ruffling his platinum white locks. "Sure, don't know what that is but I'm looking forward to it"
