I stepped down from the stack of pizza boxes and took my seat next to Karai, who gave me a small sympethetic smile. I looked away, not wanting her to see my pain, but her small hand lifted chin to meet her gaze.

She let the tears roll down her cheeks as she wrapped her arms around me. I hugged my shaking body closer to hers, and my heart skipped a beat when I remembered that Sensai used to hold me like this when I would cry.
