After Splinter's funeral, I left Leo so he could talk with his friends and I could clear my head. I wandered out of the turtle's lair to one of the abandoned sewage passageways. I sat down on the ground, brought my knees to my chest, and rested my head on them.

I let the first tear fall, and that lead to another and another, until I was sobbing. My knees were wet from my tears and my makeup was running, but I couldn't cover my emotions any longer.

I loved Splinter. He was my real father. He loved me too.

"Karai, are you in here?" shouted Leonardo's sweet voice. "I'm over here!" I shouted, wiping my eyes and putting away my emotions. As soon as he saw me, a concerned look crossed his face. "Are you ok?" he asked, running up to me. I looked away, my he tilted my face to his. "I'm fine." I said, trying to sound annoyed, although I actually sounded confused.

Leo took my hand and lead me to the spot where I was sitting, and sat me down. He grabbed both of my hands in his, which made my stomach flutter. Dang butterflies.

I sighed, and let my emotions take over.

"I was just thinking...well...about how I'm his daughter...and how maybe...just maybe...if I would've lived here...with you guys...I might have turned out ok..." I mumbled, tears streaming down my cheeks.

What Leo did next made the butterflies erupt and the world stop.

He kissed me.

What I did made all of the pain go away for a few seconds.

I kissed him back.
