“Well, Mr. K. told me…”

“Wait, Mr. K. sent you?” I almost yelled, but then he nodded and put his finger to his lips telling me to be quieter, and began explaining himself.

“Remember how your old Secrecy and Undercover teacher you had last year at the academy retired?”
    “Umm… Yeah, sure.”

“Well, first, let’s get into your spytopod and get to HQ.  I’ll fully explain myself on the way.”

-----------------------------------------------------------

“OK.”  I said.  “So let me get this straight.  I was going to school this morning, just a normal day, and then you turn up.  And then you turn out to be the new Secrecy and Undercover teacher at the academy.  And now you are using my portal and spytopod?”
“Yes.” He replied.  He looked unusually calm, as I was just about to explode.

“Well…. But… I thought that each person had their own portal and spytopod, even if they’re neighbors!  Like me and Julia!  She has her own.”

“Who’s Julia?”
“My missions partner.  Now, why are you using my portal and spytopod?”

“The mechanics haven’t installed mine yet.  I’ll be using yours for a couple weeks.”  He said in a calm voice.

“All right Mr…?”

“Vaul.  Edwin Vaul.”
“Ok then Mr. Vaul.  I have to get to class.”

“And Taurien?”

“Yeah? What else do you need?”
“Not a word about me to anyone, alright?”

“Ok, if that’s how you what it, Mr. Vaul.”  I said as we pulled up to our destination.

“And I will know if you will, and there will be consequences if you do.”

“Ok OK!  I get it already!  Drop the creep, it won’t help.”

I hopped out as fast as I could and ran out.  I had to find Julia.  Before I had a chance, she found me.

“Hey Taurien!  Nice to see you!  I can’t believe we’re back up and running again!”  She said as she gave me a big bear hug that nearly choked me, even though I should have been used to them by now, since we were friends for basically forever, the one thing could never get used to was her hugs.  She let go when I coughed.

“Ok ok.  Enough greetings.  I need to tell you something.  In secret.”

“Um, ok.  But you sound real concerned.  Well, if it’s that urgent, let’s head to our office, so we can discuss this in private.

The walk to the offices wasn’t a long one, since they were in a long hall just around the corner from the spytopod landing dock.  I pulled out the key to our room, number 037, and punched in a secret code, to reveal a prettily decorated room, that looked just the same as the other offices.  On both sides of the room, there was a desk decorated to our personalities, where we worked on homework and did our assignments, or at least the parts that we could at a desk.  One of the walls were lined with bookshelves, which were full of books that we had to have for our “schooling”.   The opposite wall had a circle of chairs in one corner and a semi-circle sofa around a TV in the other.   As we walked in, we sat at the circle of cozy chairs, and I started explaining.

“Ok.  Basically, this morning when I arrived at my portal, there was this really weird guy there.  Then I texted HQ and said that someone was there and that I would be late.  After saying hi, he asks me my name.  Not really in the normal “Hey, what’s your name?”  type of tone, but in this deep, like, threatening voice, as if he was demanding me to answer him.  So, without thinking cause I basically freaked out, I told him.”

“So who is this guy and what does he look like?”

“Let’s see.  His name is Edwin Vaul.  He is our new Secrets & Undercover teacher, since Mr. Lowel retired last year.”

“So much for being “undercover”.” Julia said, while making the quote-on-quote fingers.

“Yeah.  So this guy, I’ll call him Eddie outside of the classroom.  He is tall, with neatly combed, dark brown hair, almost black.  Underneath his cover cloaks, he had the normal teacher’s attire, so there aren't really many other details I have.  And anyway, we should be getting out to class,” I said as I stood to open the door for Julia, who locked it behind herself.
