Since Julia was my next-door neighbor, it wasn’t a long walk, although it did give me some time to think. What if my parents didn’t accept the quest? Then what would I do? I knew that the academy had memory bleachers, since the kids occasionally had to tell their parents about a quest, and not all accepted the challenge, so those memories had to be removed. The academy would stay a secret.
“Hey Taurien! Whatcha doing here?” Julia asked me, as I was just absent-mindedly roaming her front lawn.
“Oh, ah… Hi! Sorry about that, I didn't realize I was just…”
“Never mind that. Why did you come?”
“I wanted to see if you were home so we could hang out or something, you know.” I answered her with a couple winks.
“Ohh! Ok, yeah. Want to go up to my room?”
“Sure.”
“Ok, what’s the matter?” Asked Julia.
“I’ll get to that in just a second, but first we need to pull up the security footage for our office.”
“Why?” She asked while pulling it up. The footage appeared on her screen. We both gasped. Nothing. Not a single thing was touched.
“How… But…”
“What is it Taurien?”
“I knew he’d try my office again, after what he did. How could he do absolutely nothing?”
“I dunno Taurien, maybe you were wrong?”
“Was there anything missing when we cleaned up?”
“No, why?”
“Than he must be coming back! He’d be too close to quit now!”
“So, does this mean another sleepover stakeout?” Said Julia, excitedly.
“I guess so. Edwin Vaul, you’re not getting away with anything.”
“Ok, what’s the matter?” Asked Julia.
“I’ll get to that in just a second, but first we need to pull up the security footage for our office.”
“Why?” She asked while pulling it up. The footage appeared on her screen. We both gasped. Nothing. Not a single thing was touched.

“What is it Taurien?”
“I knew he’d try my office again, after what he did. How could he do absolutely nothing?”
“I dunno Taurien, maybe you were wrong?”
