Kane entered the Earth Monitoring Station accompanied by a group of guards. As they approached, one of the guards addressed a woman named Abby Griffin, declaring, "Counselor Abby Griffin, you are under arrest for exceeding the maximum amount of medical supplies per patient." Kane stepped forward, meeting Abby's gaze with a solemn expression.

"I'm sorry that this has to be public," Kane began, his voice firm yet tinged with regret. "The policy on the matter is very clear: no special treatment." He turned to walk away, but then paused, his eyes fixed on Abby. "How much blood did you use?" he inquired, a mix of curiosity and concern evident in his voice.

Eric, who stood by Abby's side, interjected, cautioning her, "Do not answer that." Nonetheless, Abby met Kane's gaze with unwavering determination. "I used whatever it took," she confessed. "Breaking the law to keep you from becoming Chancellor was the easiest decision I have ever made."

Kane continued to observe Abby, his face revealing a complex mix of emotions, with a heavy heart, he responded, "Given your confession and my role as Counselor Pro Tempore, you leave me no choice but to find you guilty." Kane's gaze remained fixed on Abby as he shook his head slightly, conveying his internal struggle.

Abby refused to back down, asserting her belief in the power of choice. "We always have a choice," she stated resolutely. "You chose to press charges on my husband, your friend, even when you knew he would get floated for them. You chose to include my daughter in the changes, and now you are choosing this. Hiding behind the law."

Locking eyes with Abby, Kane maintained his composure. "Be that as it may," he responded, his voice weighted with the burden of duty, "according to penal code one, because all crimes committed by someone above the age of majority are capital crimes. You are hereby sentenced to death. Execution is set for the morning."

Preparing to walk away, Kane moved closer to Abby, his voice lowered as he spoke with conviction. "And I choose, at any turn and any cost, that the human race stays alive." He turned to leave, but not before Abby issued her final retort. "And that's the difference between me and you, Kane. I choose to make sure that we deserve to survive."

The guards escorted Abby away, leading her to a familiar cell, once occupied by her daughter, Clarke. As she entered, she surveyed the drawings on the walls, remnants of Clarke's presence. Overwhelmed with emotion, Abby's gaze dropped, tears streaming down her face, as she grappled with the consequences of her actions.

Meanwhile, Ana, who had been accompanying the group, seethed with anger toward her brother, Kane, for bringing them to this place. Seeking solace, she stayed close to Clarke, finding comfort in their bond as she navigated the tumultuous situation unfolding around them.
