Prologue

10 year old Kyara was on a bench outside just watching the kids play, she had her notebook filled with doodles, in her hand that was covered with her baggy sleeve.

The girl sighed, stood up, and started to walk towards the entrance in the school so she could just stay in there and think. As she walked towards the door she heard a voice yell, "WATCH OUT!"

She turned around the got hit with a kickball in the face. Kyara groaned and fell on the ground her hand on her nose.

"Oh my, Big Red I told you to catch it!" The familiar voice said running towards the girl. "I'm so sorry, I thought that my friend was going to catch it."

She shook her head, "it's alright." Her eyes opened to find beautiful brown eyes. "Oh crap your nose is bleeding, here take my jacket so you won't stain your clothes."

"Oh you don't have to," she shook her head putting a hand under her chin so she could catch the blood dripping. "It's ok, I've been meaning to get rid of this ol thing anyways" he took it off and put it on her nose to keep it from leaking.

The boy held out his hand to help her up. Kyara hesitated but then took it now getting up, "Here I'll take you to the nurse." Before she disagreed, he already took the non bloody hand and led her inside towards the office.

She had barely talked this much to someone, unless it was for a class project. After explaining everything to the secretary, the boy decided to apologize again, "Ok so the nurse will be here any minute. But in the mean time, I'm really sorry for hitting you."

Kyara smiled softly and shrugged, "its nothing, I really appreciate you helping me, um-" she wanted to say his name but she didn't know it. He caught on what she was trying to say, "I'm Richard Bowen, you can call me Ricky though."

"Well, thank you Ricky for helping me, I'm Kyara." She held out her hand for him to shake.

Ricky gladly shook her hand and smiled, "I know who you are, you're in my grade, I also heard you're really smart."

This statement made Kyara blush and smiled again, "thank you." Ricky nodded a you're welcome and got her into the nurse's office after the nurse arrived.

This was the beginning of an amazing friendship.

Many years have passed since the day the two have met. After the incident Ricky introduced Kyara to Big Red, his best friend. Soon the three became the greatest of friends. They told each other everything, well almost everything. Some things needed to be kept secret especially the abuse that Kyara has been facing for a while.

Ricky and Big Red showed her all of their ways, from chilling in Red's basement to skateboarding. Kyara however fell many times trying to skateboard so she just gave up.

She always looked back at how they met and always smiled and blushed at it. Yes, Kyara had started to gain feelings for Ricky at the beginning of seventh grade, but he was interested in Nini Salazar, one of the prettiest girls in their grade.

Kyara didn't think of it much because it was just a silly crush. Big Red's words, not hers.

Speaking of Big Red, he knew about Kyara's feelings towards Ricky, even tried to tell Ricky. But the curly haired boy didnt say anything as if he never heard anything that his red headed friend stated.

Ricky Bowen was one of the sweetest guys that she had ever met, so how could she not have fallen in love with him. But she always knew that the two of them would just stay friends, and she was fine with that.

Until Sophomore year, Ricky had finally made Nini his girlfriend and he focused a lot on her. He stopped hanging out much with Kyara and Big Red, But he would hang out with Red when Nini was at musical rehearsal. Kyara was also in the musical so she was oblivious to the fact that Red and Ricky were hanging out.

When she figured out that Nini and Ricky were dating it broke her heart, Red told her to not worry about it, so she didn't. Now look how it ended. Her heart was broken, she thought that she meant something more to him, but no. She was just his friend, and that's what they will always be.

Ricky on the other hand loved the relationship he had with Nini. He finally ended up with the girl he had been crushing on for so long. But he had a feeling that he was forgetting something. Ricky just shrugged the feeling off just wanting to focus on Nini and what an amazing girl she is.

After realizing that their friendship had definitely ended, Kyara focused more on the musicals and that actually made her have more troubles with her parents. They would tell her that she was worthless and a disappointment. Then after yelling, her mother would go upstairs as her father abused Kyara.

Of course no one knew about her problems at home, she even almost told Ricky once in eighth grade because he saw a dark bruise on her arm, and she just shrugged it off saying that she fell.

Her passion for acting and singing grew more so she chose the extra curricular classes that included the arts so she could one day fulfill her dreams as an actor.

When she joined the musical she had met Ashlyn, Carlos, and Seb. The four soon became friends and they supported her through the musical saying that she would get a lead someday. And she enjoyed their friendliness and company.

But her heart still hurt that Ricky wasn't there to support her like he used to. Kyara missed their cuddles as they watched movies. Hell she even missed the day that the two shared their first kiss together, so they would finally be able to tell people that they had their first kiss (only if others asked).

As long as Ricky was happy then that's enough.
