My stomach growls. I should probably get out here and buy a little food. The bus screeches to a halt and the doors whoosh open. It smells like it's about to rain.
I walk out into a little town. There were a few restaurants and some stores. "Let's go into the store, it's cheaper than in a restaurant" I thought.
I spent almost all the rest of my money on a lunchable, a container of nuts and a few apples. I sigh. Where am I going to sleep tonight? I didn't have enough money for a hotelAs I trudge out the door, I catch a whiff of cigarette smoke.
It's coming from a guy leaning against the side of the store.
"Um, excuse me, could I borrow a cigarette?" I shyly asked him.
The guy looked me up and down.
"Sure!" He replied. As I took my first drag on it, the familiarity of the feeling runs through me. I haven't gotten to have one in a while. Smoking is a bad habit I know I should quit, but it's like a coping mechanism for me."What's a pretty girl like you doing by yourself in this town?" The guy asked.
"Well," I began "I know how cliche this sounds, but I'm basically running away. I honestly don't know what I'm doing anymore, I'm just a drifter at this point"
I dropped my cigarette on the ground and put it out with my ragged shoe."Well, here is the perfect small town to have a coming of age moment," he laughed. "My name's Spy by the way."
"It's nice to meet you, I'm y/n" I said. "So it's about to rain, where are you staying y/n?" Spy asked.
"Uh. I actually don't know, I didn't think I'd get this far to be honest." I said nervously while scuffing at the pavement with my shoe. "Really? You can't just sleep on the street and get wet." He said with his eyebrow raised.
"Uh-" I said. "Why can't you talk to him like a normal person, he's cute, but stop letting him cloud your judgement!" My inner voice said.
"I'll tell you what, why don't you come back to my place, at least until it stops raining." Spy asked.
"I don't know, how can I trust you?" "Well that's a good point." Spy laughed again. "You can't be out here in the rain, and I promise I'm not gonna hurt you."
"Well, okayyyy" I drew out.
"Cool! It's not that far, we can walk there" he smiled at me.
I warily gathered up my bags and followed him, against my better judgement. I wonder if he is the reason I'm meant to be here, and what's going to play out in the next few hours.A/n
