Ivykit scampered outside into the blinding light.

"Stonekit, Mosskit, hurry up!" she called to her littermates.

In a moment, Stonekit came out, his fur was sleek and shiny. "I wond--" he was cut off by Mosskit running past them, only half groomed, and Sorrelflame running after her.

"Mosskit, come here...now! I'm not finished grooming you, and your ceremony could be any second now!"

As though she'd summoned her, Sootstar jumped onto the CloudRock.

"All cats old enough to hunt, gather beneath the CloudRock for a very important meeting!" she yelled.

"I told you!" Sorrelflame hissed as she grabbed Mosskit and began frantically licking down her smoky gray fur.

"Okay, I'm fine." Mosskit hissed, pulling away from the queen, and scampering to the base of the CloudRock with her littermates.

I wonder who my mentor will be, Ivykit thought.

"Kits, are you ready to begin your training to become a warrior?" Sootstar asked.

"Yes-I am." Mosskit said, then Ivykit and Stonekit responded the same to their leader.

"And Brindleflame, Firewing, and Cloudfood, is it your wish to receive an apprentice?"

"Yes." they replied.

"Then Mosskit, from this moment until, you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Mosspaw. Brindleflame, train your new apprentice well." The CloudClan leader said.

"Stonekit, you are now Stonepaw. Cloudfoot, you will be a mentor to this young cat. Train him well." She purred.

"And Ivykit, you are now Ivypaw. Firewing, I trust that you will train Ivypaw to your greatest ability."

"Mosspaw! Stonepaw! Ivypaw!" the clan cheered joyfully.

"Come, Ivypaw, lets go explore the territory." Firewing says as she looks down at me.

She's just barely a warrior, herself, I thought.

"Good...no, tuck your legs under you more....okay....great!" Firewing instructed me, "Now that you have the crouch ready, we can try some real hunting." she purred.

Slowly, Ivypaw drew nearer to the mouse. It was nibbling contently on a nut.

As she crouched, about to pounce, the small brown creature lifted its head and, its small pink nose twitched as it smelled the air.

Mousedung! It's scented me!

Ivypaw leaped from the bushes, but it was too late, the mouse was running.

She let out a screech if anger and hurtled herself after the creature.

They ran for a moment before Ivypaw leaped, catching the mouse's hindquarters in her paws. It yowled out in pain, and guilt clawed at her stomach. She thrust herself foreword and bit it's neck. It fell limp.

I'm glad nobody saw that kill!
