Kizumi still couldn't believe he agreed to that stupid idea. He was having a hard time concentrating on his Math class and looked out of the window absent-mindedly, only to realize that Yamato's class was having PE in the court right outside his window, doing laps on the running tracks. Yamato was running alongside his classmates, his hair tied in a short ponytail that couldn't hold all of his hair. Kizumi had seen him running faster before; his pace today wasn't too impressive.
Guess that makes two of us.
A vision of Yamato's blushed face looking down at him as Kizumi held his tie came to his mind. Kizumi covered his face with a hand and adjusted his glasses.
Why did he want to see that expression again? Shit. Why was he thinking about him so much?
He looked back out of the window. Yamato had stopped running and was now sitting on the grass, recovering his breath and brushing sweat off his face.
God, why did he have such a slappable face?
Yamato suddenly looked up at Kizumi’s window.
Shit!
Kizumi stuffed his head back into his book.
Did he see me?
Kizumi didn’t dare look back for a few seconds. But he couldn’t resist for too long and sneaked a peak back at the court, only to see Yamato smiling evily back at him.
Ah! Fuck.
*******
“I wasn't looking at you,” said Kizumi.
Yamato glared at him playfully, “you couldn't take your eyes off me, could you?" he grinned.
“How arrogant of you to assume that,” he argued back, while avoiding eye contact altogether. This fact had not escaped Yamato’s notice.
“Am I? I see . . .”
Kizumi opened the club room door and they stepped inside. Nanami looked up.
“Great! I'm so excited!!!” she said, kneeling on the chair and getting closer to the table.
They gathered around her. Kizumi sat down, while Yamato stood close to him by the table, rolling up his sleeves.
“Well, ready to hear the topic for the first round?”
“Lay it on us, Nana-chan!” said Yamato theatricality.
“Okay, so the first topic will be ‘nautical fantasy’! You can choose the details. This can include ships, pirates, mermaids and mermen, monsters, all of that.”
Right . . .
Kizumi started feeling very anxious. He had to do this now. If he lost, he would have to do something Yamato desired and he was terrified to find out what that would be.
"Grand choice, Nana-chan! As expected of our club leader!" said Yamato cheerfully.
Nanami squinted her eyes at him, “if you’re trying to butter me up, it’s not gonna work.”
Yamato pouted. Kizumi approved.
“Well, I think we shouldn’t write our stories while being in the same place, you know, to not see each other’s stories,” said Kizumi, “so I’m going home”.
Yamato’s shoulders fell, “oh,” he said simply, “well, I don’t think it’d be that much of a problem if you promised not to look,” he said with a secretive wink.
Kizumi considered for a second, “rather not risk it,” he said while getting up. He passed Yamato giving him an untrusting smile and left the club room, shutting the door behind him.
