Chapter Two: Elk on Fire

Jewel slowly awoke to a bright light, soon a dark shadow growing closer. It was a blurry version of Nova licking her face. His eyes widening as he saw her waking up, and his tail wagging even more as he looked over to the other side of the den.

"Guys! She's awake!" He called, and as soon as he did Ferns face was pressed against Novas', her brows furrowed as she was making sure he wasn't fibbing for the third time.

"He's right! Oh, JewelFeather..! You had me so worried..!" she then gently pushed past Nova and was now the one licking Jewels face.

"Let her breathe, Fern." Jewel could hear Stargazer say as she walked over and smiled. "Well, yesterday was certainly eventful." Star chuckled softly as she lay in front of Jewel and crossed her paws. "We stayed up all night outside with you making sure you were okay." She smiled.

"I'm glad." Jewel croaked, and then smiled softly as she went to sit up. To her dismay, her whole body was aching. Her voice was hoarse from all of the growling and yelling last night. She winced and went to lay back down.

"After you got knocked out," Jewel saw ShadowRun step into her field of view. "ForestFlame and the guards went to drag you out. The whole pack was furious at him and went to attack him and his guards. That short speech you gave him about not being a good alpha and telling him to wright his wrongs, yada yada," he chuckled and smiled, soon becoming a bit more serious as he continued. "It really opened the packs eyes a bit. The closer followers attacked the rebellious ones. Fern grabbed Nova and Stargazer, Dusty, River, and myself tried to drag you out as quickly as possible, but you did get stepped on a bit while you having been knocked out opposite of the entrance. One hell of a trek, that's for sure. But we did it." He smiled proudly yet softly at the same time. Jewel couldn't look away from his face. It brought her peace to look at him. Soon, RiverEye stepped in behind ShadowRun.

"Yeah, it got quiet and some wolves went rogue after having enough of ForestFlames shit. And in the morning everyone else was leaving, and ForestFlame looked pretty messed up from that scuffle last night. Not only from you but from the rest of the rebellious wolves. I swear that I saw one eye swollen shut. But as they were leaving we moved you back inside along with Nova. He woke up as the last of them were leaving but didn't seem upset that his parents didn't come for him. He handled it like an absolute champ!" River said excitedly as he smiled down at Nova, who sat proudly by Jewels side.

"Nova, I'm so proud of you." Jewel leaned forward to lick his face and he contentedly accepted her affection. "We all are. I just hope that myself and the pack knocked some sense into him..." Jewel sighed as she quickly sat up, wincing through the pain. She was surprised to see there were some other juveniles sitting behind her friends, RoseWind, a female wolf with light red fur who would have been a future healer for the Flame Pack, PhantomEye, another female wolf with snow white fur with a black stripe down her back, and FlameTail, a larger sized wolf with fur of such a dark red he looked black in color until he'd stand in the light. "So," she sighed, her sore muscles relaxing a bit. She then gently smiled at the now independent juveniles. "What now?"

"We should probably hunt." PhantomEye chimed in. "I don't know about you guys but I haven't eaten since two nights ago. And that was only scraps." He chuckled awkwardly and then waited for a reply out of someone.

"Ooh..! I'm hungry..!" Nova leapt up and down, his tail wagging. Star, Fern, River, and Shadow nodded in agreement.

Jewel smiled more, "Then lets hunt. I'm starving, too. I could eat a whole moose right about now." She then stood, her muscles tensing up a bit and then slowly relaxing. "Do you want me to carry you, Nova?" She asked, looking down at the pup. He shook his head.
