To say Zak was surprised when he woke up entangled in both the blankets and Darryl's arms would be an understatement. At first he closed his eyes again, not wanting Darryl to know he was awake yet. But then, after thinking about it, he realized it was a perfect opportunity to admire the older's features.

He seemed peaceful, only furrowing his brows when Zak accidentally moved and almost woke him up. The younger of the two carefully pulled his hand from under the blanket and reached over to caress the older's cheek. Despite his touch being so light that Darryl probably couldn't feel it, he subconciously leaned into the gesture, startling Zak enough to remove his hand and roll onto his back.

Choosing to avoid any more potentially awkward moments if Darryl were to wake up, he decided to finally get out of bed. And thank god he decided to when he did, because just moments after he stood up the older's eyes blinked open and he sat up in bed.

"Morning, Geppy," he yawned, the first syllable of the younger's nickname blending with the rest.

"I can't believe you forgot literally half of the things I asked you to get," Darryl complained, "and still managed to buy the entire candy section." His roommate just laughed guiltily, giving the other a half assed apology before wandering up the stairs to his room. Zak came down the stairs at the same time, shooting a questionable look at Darryl after glancing at the grocery bags full of junk food Elliot was carrying. The older just shrugged before replying.

"I've gotta go to the store, he forgot to get a lot of the stuff we need." He paused, an idea popping into his mind. "Wanna tag along?"

Zak nodded, walking over to where Darryl was leaning on the island counter. "As long as I can sit in the cart." He smiled, the older scoffing playfully.

"What are we getting again?" Zak asked for the third time since the pair had entered the store. Darryl stopped the cart in the middle of the aisle, leaning against the handle and sighing. He picked up the list again and began reading off the items.

"Milk, paper towels, bananas-"

"I'm just joking, i know what we need." The younger giggled, knowing he was starting to annoy the older. He enjpyed pushing his buttons, seeing how far he could go before Darryl reacted. It probably wasn't a good thing but it was fun nonetheless.

Darryl just sighed again, and resumed pushing the cart. Zak looked up at him fondly, managing to catch the small smile on the other's face as he scanned the aisle. He watched as he picked up a paper towel roll and tossed it in the cart, landing directly in Zak's lap. He continued to do this with everything they picked up, until Zak was nearly burried in groceries.

Darryl smiled down at him as they waited in the checkout line, softly giggling as he realized how adorable Zak looked.

Oh my god, I have to stop calling him adorable.

Distracting himself from his internal battle, he turned to gaze at the magazines with ridiculous headlines to his left.
