Lindsay sat at the end of the long pier, she missed Beth, they used to cuddle and kiss while watching the sunset light up the water a beautiful orange here. Teardrops ran down Lindsay's cheeks one by one as she stared at the water. "I miss you Beth, I miss you so much," she choked out. "Why did you leave me!?" Lindsay was starting to get hysterical, she already knew the answer. Beth couldn't handle it all the hate,  from almost everyone in the school, from the person who she had once called her best friend and, sadly, from her homophobic family, but, didn't Beth know Lindsay wasn't strong enough to face that same hate by herself?

Lindsay looked back at the beach and memories flooded her. How her and Beth used to run and laugh on that beach, the sandcastles they built and even that one time they camped out at that beach. She smiled at the memories, but her smile faded when she looked back at the water.

She looked at the rock with a rope tied around it. Lindsay tied the rope around her right ankle, she wanted to make sure she would sink. She took the locket from around her neck and looked at the photos inside, they were of Beth. Her curly fiery orange hair draped nicely over her shoulders and her smile was one of those that just makes everyone in the room want to smile, but not for Lindsay, she just wanted to cry more and cry more she did.

"I'm sorry Beth, I'm not strong enough, I love you." Lindsay held the locket tight in her left hand before swinging her whole body off of the pier. She sank deeper and deeper into the water as her hair danced elegantly above her head. She never closed her eyes, she wanted to see the place she was going to die.

What Lindsay was unaware of was that Beth left her a present in the water, she gave it to a kind mermaid and as the mermaid swam forward up to Lindsay, Lindsay saw Beth's gift. A beautiful silver necklace, one that Lindsay had given Beth before. It was a silver circle with a love-heart punctured through it. The mermaid put it around Lindsay's neck before swimming away just as Lindsay's heart took it's last beat.

I would like to thank my sexy and epi best friend Hidden_Beauty for making the cover for me, I'd have the fugly wattpad one without yah! Check out her stuff (its awesome, just like her).
