"Hurry up Dewpaw!" Frostpool called from where she was treating Mistleshade. Dewpaw was in the medicine den, sorting herbs for Frostpool. It was strange how just a sunrise ago, when Dewpaw came into the medicine den with some herbs for Frostpool, Fawnstar had been speaking to Frostpool about something that Dewpaw knew about. I had that same dream, Fawnstar! He wish he could say to her. But he knew that she would never believe an apprentice medicine cat, that's why she was talking to Frostpool. But the thing is, Frostpool knew that he had had the dream, so maybe she would've told Fawnstar? Dewpaw shook his head. No. Frostpool would want him to say it to Fawnstar, not tell Fawnstar herself. When he finished chewing up the marigold, which he brought to Frostpool. "Smear it on like this," Frostpool instructed, smearing it on Mistleshade's cut. He did, and then gave her a poppy seed for sleep.

"Come back to me in the morning!" Frostpool called after Mistleshade, who was limping off to the warriors den. Frostpool tidied up the herb store, then sat down next to Dewpaw, who was staring at nothing in particular. "Dewpaw, tell me if there's anything wrong," she whispered. Dewpaw twitched his ear.

When Frostpool padded out of the den, Dewpaw snuck out of camp through the dirtplace tunnel. He padded through the noisy forest, searching it for something. He came to the Skyclan border, and waited in the bushes. A rustling sound came from on the other side of the bush. A small brown head popped out. "Dewpaw? you're early," It meowed.

"Hi Sagepaw," He purred. Dewpaw thought back to when he first met Sagepaw. It was at his first gathering. She was so friendly and kind.

Dewpaw knew he shouldn't be meeting her. But he couldn't bear not to see her again. He remembered back in the sweet-smelling nursery, when he had asked his mother, Mistleshade, a question. "Mama? Will I ever have a mate?"

"Maybe. You can dream big things, little one."

"I want to become a medicine cat mama." She gulped, and Dewpaw remembered his mother telling him that medicine cats could not have a mate. Dewpaw sighed.

"What are we gonna do Dewpaw?" Sagepaw meowed, pulling him from his thoughts.

"Um," he meowed looking around. "Show me how you can jump from trees." Sagepaw pointed her tail at a big birch tree, a few tail-lengths ahead of them.

"Race ya!" she called, already dashing up the tree.Dewpaw put on a burst of speed, and clawed his way onto the tree. Sagepaw was nearly at the top, jumping neatly from branch to branch. Dewpaw however, was out of breath when he scrambled his way to the top. The two sat next to each other on the highest branch, their pelts brushing. "It's so beautiful, watching the sunset," Sagepaw meowed softly.

He licked Sagepaw's cheek. She purred. "Time for jumping!" Sagepaw meowed suddenly. She shifted her paws into a good position. Then, she gathered her haunches together, and leaped off the branch. Dewpaw watched in awe as she flew to the ground. She landed flat on her paws. "You try!" Sagepaw called up the tree. Dewpaw gathered his confidence, then padded over to the edge of the branch. He looked over the edge of the branch, down to nothingness. He could only see Sagepaw's pale brown pelt flashing beneath him. "Just jump! Your paws will land flat on the ground," she called. Dewpaw took a deep breath, and flew off the branch. What am I doing! This is crazy! Dewpaw felt the air rushing around him. His eyes were locked on Sagepaw. Suddenly, his paws felt earth. He staggered, then regained his balance. Sagepaw came bouncing over to him. :"See! Isn't it fun?" She chirped.

"I guess." He meowed shakily.

"Why don't you, show me some of your battle skills?" Dewpaw meowed, unsure of himself.
