“So, I guess it’s my turn.” [Lockwood breathed in to the mic.]
[“Lockwood! You don’t need to press your mouth too close to the microphone. They can hear you just fine.” Lucy’s voice drifted faintly from the background.]
“Oh, right. Sorry, Luce. Just getting the hang of this thing. Stop smiling, George.”
[A small sound similar to a balloon deflating suggests that George had finally settled into their sofa. “Oh you’ll get used to it, Lockwood. Five quid says that he’ll be the one doing the report next.”
[“You’re on.” Lucy replied after a tinkling of china on wood.]
[A loud rush of static and Lockwood continues.]
“Well, what’s this entry for, then?”
[“Oh, yes.” A short intermission with George ruffling through several papers. Meanwhile, Lucy passed a cup of tea to Lockwood who gratefully accepted. “Here it is.” George passed the sheet over to Lockwood.]
“Oh right! Thanks George. Lockwood & Co. would like to extend our thanks to Ella Jane all the way in Glasgow for sending us a lovely drawing of Lucy and I sealing the ghost of Treblury Cemetery.”
[“Yes, we do hope your Problem with the Rattling Bones was resolved. We’re sorry we couldn’t come out to meet with you.” Lucy continued.]
[“Yeah, you really captured my greatness in that image.” George commented.]
[“I’m actually surprised she managed to find some of this greatness of yours to capture.” Lucy said, with a soft slurp from her tea.]
“It only shows how talented Ella Jane must really be.”
“Moving on, we recently received a letter from BlueDolan. Thank you for your support, Miss Dolan! We greatly appreciate it. And those cookies you sent tasted absolutely brilliant.”
[“Well, we’re pretty sure they were if not for George who ate just about everything before we even got a chance to bite.” Lucy mentioned. “But George says they were fantastic. Didn’t you, George?”]
[A loud exclamation of pain followed. George replied, “Oh yeah, they tasted very nice.”]
“Oh let’s see who else we have here.”
[“A picture of Cindy and her family from Maryville over at Hampstead. They send their love.” Lucy states before gingerly settling the paper next to their box.]
[“Another box of biscuits. This time it’s from a lad named Jacob. Oh! These have macadamias!” George exclaimed and quickly tore the box open.]
“Honestly, George. Have you no respect for the cookie rule? Pass me a piece.”
[Lockwood continued with his cheeks stuffed with a rather large macadamia cookie.]
“Well I suppose that’s all for now. We’ll check back in a bit. Lucy and I are off to Mrs. Turbeldy’s orphanage to investigate a case of an attempted ghost-murder.
“Anthony Lockwood, CEO signing out.”
[“You’re not the CEO, Lockwood.” Lucy said, their voices growing fainter and fainter.”]
“Shut up, Lucy. It’s cooler that way.” [Lockwood whispered back.]
