Prologue.
James tapped his fork nervously as he waited for Chance, his best friend, to join him and Chris at the café.
"Can you not?" Chris said slapping James's hand angrily, "You're being annoying."
"Why is Chance not here?" James blurred out, as if he was holding the words for a long time, "He said he be here after school, its been 5 minutes and guess who's not here... Chance!" He proceed to put his arms in the air for emphasis, ignoring the stares from people at the Café.
He's always been the loud one, the one that gets attention everywhere he goes, good and bad.
Chris sat back in her seat lazily resting her head back.
"He's never been late.." She admitted quietly not wanting to argue with him as she took a sip of her coffee.
"THAT'S ALL I'M SAYING!" James screamed through his mouthful as he pointed Chris with his sandwich, causing even more stares. Chris wrinkle her nose in disgust.
James just smirked at her and then turn away to stare at the door.

After a good 5 minutes Chris broke the silence. "He's probably with Yasmin" She sighed and took another sip of her coffee.
James neck snaped to her direction "Who?!"
"You know.. Yasmin" Chris sat up and looked straight into James eyes, winking as she did so.
James eyebrows sinked. he didn't have a slight clue who Yasmin was.
Chris stared at James as if he was an idiot "Oh my god James! Yasmin! The girl.. With the.. Hair! And the... The eyes!"
"And the nose?!!" James said sarcastically cutting her of.
Chris pushed James playfully "She's the girl in your chem. class, you know the girl Chance been talking about for about a week now." Chris assured him, then she took another gulp of her now cold coffee.
James looked down at his empty plate. He knew who Yasmin was, I mean who didn't, she was the new girl, but he had never heard Chance mention her, ever. He decided to shrug it off.
Chris rolled her eyes.
"I don't know what's the deal with him" she said quietly but enough for James to hear "If he likes her, why doesn't he tells her?" chris shook her head while she fixed her tangled chain.
Chris looked up and watch as James's mouth form a perfectly round O and his eyes grew wider "You're kidding me." Was all he said.
Chris's eyebrows furrow and her eyes widen as well "Didn't Chance told you?" Chris asked, she was more confuse than James himself.
James stared at her blankly as he shook his head no.
Chris open her mouth about to say something when suddenly as if on queue the door sung open letting the cold October's air in.
Both heads turn to see Chance making his way to them.
"Hey guys was going on?" Chance asked not noticing James surprise expression.
"Noth-"
"You like Yasmin?" James asked standing up to face Chance, his voice low but strong.
Chance's eyes darted from James to Chris, finally settling on Chris.
"YOU TOLD?!!" Chance said louder than he wanted to.
"ANSWER MY QUESTION" James said as loud as Chance, stepping closer to him.
All eyes were on them now, and James and Chance were just staring at each other not saying a word. You could actually see the tension in between them.
"You know what.." Chris said breaking their glare and getting all her stuff. "This seems like a you and James problem, so I'll just... You know Chris my way out of this..." She stood up and tried to walk passed them.
Chance quickly stopped her before she could walk to the door "This is not over" Chris nodded without making eye contact with him. She couldn't, she was too ashamed of herself for opening her mouth.
Chris speed walked out the cafe as soon as Chance let go of shoulders. Now she could only hope they didn't kill each other or something.
