Arthit's POV

I just told someone, a stranger, my real name. Again, after working for quite some time in this line of work, I have learned that a person should not reveal anything that can potentially threaten your life in the near future. That is why aliases exists.

But no, not this time, not with him. We met at the most weirdest place at the wrong time. Yet...

I avoided his gaze. I can sense that he's still staring at me but I chose to ignore it, as I was more concerned with what's going to happen after the incident.

I decided to use the back portion of the building as an escape route. I was sure that no one's gonna wait there for me to set a trap.

I was wrong. As soon as we drove out of the basement, a series of gunshots greeted us.

I heard the guy sitting beside me scream in horror, as I tried my best to avoid the bullets.

I pity him. For getting involved in this mess. But the moment he saw the bodies back in the building, I have already made up my mind.

I'm gonna protect him with my own life.

Kongpob's POV

There are only three noises I hear right now: gunshots, tires screeching, and the engine. I held tightly on my seat as Arthit speeds up through the highway.

This is beyond words. I never expected that this can actually happen in real life! We are chased down by people who wants us-- or Arthit-- dead, in the middle of the night.

I didn't sign up for this!

I am just amazed, despite the fact that I am involved in a life or death siatuation...

I still feel safe.

I'm trembling, my heart's pounding as if it's gonna jump out of my chest, I'm screaming from the top of my lungs every time a series of gunshots  is trailing just behind us.

I secretly looked at Arthit. He's ridiculously calm. The car might not be as new as it looked before we were bombarded with bullets, but he's doing rather a good job at evading them.

I kept looking at him. How I wished I am as fearless as him, as strong as him, as calm as him...

Before I could even think rationally, I reached out for his hand on top of the shifter and  gave it a gentle squeeze.

Arthit's POV

What is he doing?

I quickly glanced at his hand on top of mine. His hand is trembling and is sweating, but I kind of understand that. Being involved in something as bad as this-- chased by people you don't know, car getting shot at, stranger driving the car where you're in.

That's more than enough to send someone into a state of anxiousness.

I looked at the rear mirror. Damn. They're still following us. They really wanted me dead, huh? I clicked my tongue out of frustration.

Think. Think. Think Arthit.

I sighed heavily.

I need to end this for now.

I pulled up the lever located at the side of my seat to recline it. He looked at me with questioning eyes. I can only smile at him before guiding his hands on to the steering wheel. He was about to pull back his hands but I stopped him. He hesitated for a moment before moving over to the driver seat. He is now in charge of the driving. I didn't knew that he could drive, but his help will be vital to stop these guys from pursuing us further.
