It's been twenty three hours since I met Kalindi, not that I'm counting. Now I'm infront of the same Crossword bookstore. 'I come here twice a month', she had said. The chance of her coming back the very next day are slim but I don't want to miss a single day in case she comes. I wait there for half an hour. No luck.
Days pass one by one. I should have gotten bored by now but each day I keep waiting longer. 45 minutes and yesterday I waited for almost an hour.
Day 10. Today I have been waiting for more than two hours. I am about to leave. Then there comes the moment I am waiting for. I witness Kalindi entering the Crossword alone.
Ok, time starts. Be ready and act naturally. I enter the Crossword a minute after she gets in. I start searching for books without minding her.
"Mr.Cinephile"
I just hear the sweetest voice after ten days. My creativity in creating coincidence is wow.
"Hey Bibliophile, what a coincidence," I say.Wow, I'm a better liar than I thought.
"So started reading?"
"Not really. It's my first day today actually. I thought I should give it a shot." I have been practicing this dialogue for the past ten days.
"You should Nirav. A man like you who is so creative in his writing will definitely like reading,"Kalindi tells.
Oh stop Kalindi. Please don't praise me. The last time you did the same and that started this whole mess. I don't know how much more I can handle.
"If you don't mind, pick one for me," I say.
"My pleasure," replied Kalindi with a glint in her eyes, "By the way what's your favourite genre?"
Alfred Hitckock is god and thriller is me.
"Love stories anytime," I reply, lying through my teeth.
"Good. Indian or foreign?"
You give me a Korean one, I don't care.
"Indian"
Kalindi walks around searching. I follow her, enjoying the time I get to spend with her. She finally takes a book and gives to me.
"I too had a love story, Ravinder Singh", I read the cover.
"You'll surely like it Nirav."
"Hope so."
"Let me know after you finish"
Bingo. Guess I don't have to wait around the bookstore again.
"How would I contact you?" I ask, trying to mask my excitement by keeping a neutral face.
"Oh sorry. 9744359495. Note it down. Give me a miss call. I'll save yours Mr. Cinephile," she says with a laugh.
"Ok Miss. Bibliophile"
