For the next couple of weeks, Wysteria lived in the shack, but Mammon only ever came at night--However, he always made sure there was food when he wasn't around.

It slowly transitioned to him providing her clothes and books to keep her entertained.

He knew that his time in the human world was limited, so he chose to finally tell Lucifer the truth. When he did, he knew that regardless of how his brother acted, he was the only one that'd understand the situation.

"I am surprised you even cared to save the child," Lucifer voiced as he peered into the window at the sleeping child.

"It's not as simple as that," Mammon sighed scratching his head, he turned to his brother and explained the situation.

After a while, hearing the explanation, Lucifer blinked as he turned back to the window and got a better look at the child," Are you sure?" Mammon just nodded his head while crossing his arms.

"There is not much we can do, but I think I know a safe place for her"

"Not an orphanage got it? The one she was in prior treated her like an animal"

Lucifer scoffed," That is an imprudent thought, I have seen how those places are—during this day and age, it's a foolish idea to think of such a place. Give me a couple of days and I can assure you that she'll be at a better place"

Mammon nodded and placed a hand on his brother's shoulder," Thank you,"

"Don't hurt yourself having to say that," Lucifer said blankly, but regardless of brushing it off, he knew his brother understood it.

A couple of days later, Lucifer had kept his word and found a safe place to keep Wysteria.

However, when Mammon found out the deal that came with it, he was sure it was partly his brother punishing him for keeping the secret for a few weeks.

However, regardless of the debt, he was now in, it was all for the sake of Wysteria. He'd provide for her as her new guardian's—who happened to be witches—kept her protected.

Though, because Mammon refused to tell his younger brothers of the real reason he worked for those witches—to them, all they knew was that he must have stolen something or tried to trick them that he was now stuck with them until they got uninterested.

Mammon played along with it and acted like a helpless striver to them, just to hide the truth.

The last 'The Great Mammon' wanted was for his brothers to think he was going soft. He repeatedly told himself he wanted to keep up the act and it worked for years.

However, the issue was that since part of the deal to the witches was that Mammon could not tell Wysteria he was a demon. According to them, it was safer if she did not know and Lucifer agreed to it, much to Mammon's disagreement.

Though, since Mammon felt as if he couldn't repay Lucifer enough, he agreed.

It also meant that after a while, Mammon had to stop visiting because of the different ageing process between them was great. Wysteria's life was much shorter than that of Mammon and she'd notice the lack of ageing on his part.

Mammon walked into his brother's study and just like he feared, the day had come when Lucifer told him that he could no longer see Wysteria.

"I understand," was all he could say with his fist both tightened on his sides," It's for the best"
