The waiting game—No one has ever enjoyed it. Probably. Mammon definitely didn't for the most part. It would have been easier if he had anything to distract himself, but Lucifer made it impossible. It was kind of a punishment for taking a while to tell him.
Besidesgoing to school and eating dinner at the dining, Mammon was practically under room arrest, watching over Wysteria. It did cause him some stress, with worrying about the human, that he tried to distract himself with anything in his room. He knew he'd probably find better distractions with possibly getting Levi or one of his brother's to talk, play games, movies or even just lend him some company, but he was still set on not telling the others anything.
He didn't know how to, because one way or another, he'd end up revealing his complicated relationship with Wysteria. He basically didn't know where to begin, because none of them actually met her properly like Lucifer all those hundreds of years ago and again, no one knew about the child he saved a few years back. Only Lucifer did, again.
Mammon just didn't want his little brothers to know the soft side of him, but also to see this as a chance to think he was weak. Even if it could cure him of his days of boredom. Which led him to overthink.
He had departed with Wysteria upon orders from Lucifer, but then, in the end, they both left her with witches that seemingly tried to harm her. It made him panic a few times, thinking of what they could have done over the years. Fear started to grow each minute he thought of the possible things they could do.
While consumed in his thought, Mammon failed to notice the sound of groaning and his bed creaking. It was until the sound of Wysteria's exhausted voice broke through his grumbling.
"You think so loudly...my brain might burst" Wysteria blinked consistently. Trying to make her blurry vision go away sooner.
"Don't read my thoughts!"
"Charming as ever Mammon," A small ounce of hope took over Mammon as he perked up at her words. Though he was not sure if it was placed properly. Was referring to the past when they were friends or referring to the short time spent a few years back. He just stared, waiting for her to tell him through more words.
"Wait sorry take that back, you were never charming," Wysteria snickered as she shifted on the bed and remained to lay down," No food this time?" She lightly joked, only making Mammon confused.
He still didn't know which Wysteria she currently was. Making him choose his words wisely.
"What do I look like to ya? I ain't your servant," Mammon huffed.
"Oh, no you are my saviour" Wysteriagrinned cheekily, though her words were clearly sarcastic.
It was the child that he saved, Wysteria. Mammon thought. Though he was not sure if he was relieved or disappointed. While the idea of reuniting with his friend was tempting, he was also glad that the one he saved didn't begin with curses and anger.
Mammon realized that he did owe one thing and as much as it pained him, he knew she deserved it. So he lowered his head and bowed," I am sorry, that we placed ya under those witches...who ended up being after your life"
Wysteria blinked. One. Two and then multiple times. She was taken back at the sudden apology and she couldn't even find a moment spared to joke. His words and his face had told her enough that he genuinely felt bad.
"It's not as if..." Wysteria winced as she sat up and threw her legs off the bed," They harmed me throughout the years. To be honest, they gave me a good education, a place to live and food to eat" She shrugged," Even though it was probably to build me up and only to rob me of it when I got older, I still had the chance to live."
Wysteria looked to the floor," Mammon you still saved me and honestly if you didn't I'd probably be dead by now."
"Tch" Mammon clicked his tongue and faced his back to her," Whatever...I was just bored Wysteria chuckled noticing his ears turning red. She didn't choose to make fun of him and just pretend to not notice.
When she lowered her hand, she grazed her pants and remembered the item she was given by Amadis. Wysteria let out a gasp as she dug into her pocket. Which made Mammon turn and before he could ask, he froze seeing the card she was holding in her hand.
His hand started to shake as he lifted it and pointed," Hey...why...is that...?" Wysteria faced him and stood up. Stumbling, but able to keep her balance.
"I am not sure if I should give it to you, since technically, Amadis took it from Lucifer," Wysteria hesitated for only a few seconds before lifting her hand that held his card," But...uh this belongs to you, so here you go."
Mammon held back a squeal and all his common sense vanished. Practically skipping or to Wysteria's eyes, floating. He was already standing in front of her eyeing the card with loving eyes. Pretty much-forgetting anyone or anythings existence except Goldie.
When reaching for the card—a light started to form around it and it caused the two to close their eyes at the brightness. Both letting out a collective gasp.
Taking a second, the light had slowly disappeared, and when the pair opened their eyes, they both let out a shout at what was before their eyes.
On Mammon's left wrist and Wysteria's right one was the clasp of a metal shackle. A long chain that dangled down and bundled on the floor.
Mammon reacted by lifting his arm and then pulling at the long chain. Completely forgetting that the other end was connected to Wysteria's wrist. Which ended with a fist slammed on his head after almost making her fall from him yanking at the chain.
"I am going to kill, Amadis," Wysteria grumbled.
Mammon hissed through his teeth, "I should have known when the moment ya mentioned that damn demon's name..."
