The car brakes squealed in front of the school gates, and Nick stepped out. "Thanks Mr. Rogers" Nick said, "No problem pal" replied Mr. Rogers, then he zoomed off. Nick stood still at the gate, as if expecting something or someone to show up, then suddenly two hands held he's shoulders, "what's up man", it was Kyle and David, Nick's best friends. "I'm good Kyle" "what's good?" He asked David "I'm Aight man" replied David. Kyle was white, whereas David was a light skinned African American. "You waiting for someone?" Asked Kyle, "Nah bro, I'm bout to go in" replied Nick, "Aight then boys, we better get to class, or else Prof. Whitfield Gon whoop yo ass" commented David, "not my ass boy, yours " replied Nick. They all laughed and walked inside the school.
The school compound was massive, There were lots of people in the school compound, so it was a bit noisy.
The professor's class today was boring like always, "Thank God it's over" Kyle said out loud, "heck yeah bro, I was starying to get dizzy" David commented. "Yo, what are we gonna do about Mr. Ken's assignment?" Kyle asked, Reaching for he's bag, Nick brought out three sheets of paper, " yo, I got you", he handed it to Kyle, while David took a glance at the printed sheet.
"Hi Nick", a voice from behind called out. The voice sounded familiar but managed to startle him, he looked back, it was Tessy.
Nick smiled, " Hi Tess" he replied.
Tess was Nick's childhood crush, and she also had a crush on him as well, or so his friends told him. "um, Nick I could really use your help for a math problem I have, would you be free this evening?" She asked. "umm" he looked at he's friends, hoping to get any kind of help as he was unsure of what to say, but they were smiling and nodding their heads at him. David gave him a thumbs up. He looked back at Tess, "sure, yeah, I'd like to help" Nick replied, "what time are you gonna be free?" He asked, "by 4:00pm" she replied, "ok then I'll be there" he said, "Thanks Nick" she replied, she smiled at him and walked off, Nick couldn't help but stare at her as she kept going, his friends came to his side and watched her too, "Damn, she cute" David said, "yeah bro" Kyle said. Tess turned back and caught Nick looking at her, she smiled again and waved at him, but his hand we're too numb to wave back.
