Y/n was over Cal's house again, of course. They had been in this type of relationship for a while, and neither of them really had anything against it. She had fallen for him but kept it under wraps well enough. He was in love too but hid it out of fear of losing her. They both chose to be satisfied with what they had going.

That was, until tonight. The two rarely argued, if you could even call it that when they did. However, things such as this are bound to blow up eventually. That just happened to be sooner than expected in this situation.

Y/n had come over and they had done their usual activities, which of course consisted of Netflix, cuddling, and eventually hooking up. It was normal for her to spend the night at Cal's, and, if it was at her place, Cal almost always stayed over. As the two were laying together, half-naked and relaxed, Y/n thought of something. "You think Cal heard us?" she asks, running a hand through her messy hair.

"Probably," he laughs, "I think he usually does, but he knows about us, it's fine."

She thinks about that for a minute, trying to figure out exactly what the relationship between them had become. She really had no idea anymore. On the surface, it seemed like friends with benefits, except those benefits were starting to include a lot more qualities of a romantic relationship than a purely sexual one.

"Cal knows about us?" she asks incredulously, sitting up quickly. Her chin rests in the palm of her hand as she waits for an answer.

"I guess, why wouldn't he?" Cal replies, still staring at the ceiling. He can feel her eyes on him and suddenly feels guilty, although he can't figure out exactly why.

"Because that's weird," she says, her eyes drifting around the room. She leaves it at that, hoping for a more intelligent reply from the man next to her. He doesn't say anything at first, obviously thinking about something.

"What's weird about it? He doesn't judge," Cal explains, finally turning over to face her. She blinks slowly at him and bites her tongue.

"This isn't even an actual relationship," she finally breaks, sitting all the way up and crossing her arms. She'd raised her voice, without even realizing it, and worried for a second that Lux could also hear her now.

"What do you mean by that?" Cal says, avoiding eye contact. Her anger surprised him as it was pretty unusual for her.

"This means nothing, right? Let's face it, I'm just one of your many booty calls!" She hisses. Without looking back at Cal for even a second, she stands up and walks out, heading straight for the other Cal's room. The two were close friends and told each other almost everything. Her plan was to rant to him until she felt better. She didn't even care if the other idiot could hear her.

"Cal?" She asks, knocking quickly on his door.

"Come in," He calls. Y/n doesn't even hesitate to open the door. She walks in, quickly shutting the door behind her, and flops onto Cal's bed next to him. He shoots her a look of concern, but otherwise stays quiet and waits for her to speak. However, she remains quiet and stares at the ceiling, clenching her jaw.

"What happened?" Cal finally asks, hoping to avoid upsetting her more. She scoffs and shakes her head. Eventually, she sits up and crosses her legs, facing Cal and studying his expression for a few seconds.

"Cal's a fucking dickhead," she replies simply. Lux sighs, closing his laptop and putting on his bedside table with his headphones. Y/n watches his actions and realizes he was most likely using the headphones while she and Cal were 'making noise' in the other room. Lux sighs and takes a deep breath. He'd known about the whole friends with benefits thing since it started and he had a good guess of where it would end up going. Actually, he'd assumed they'd fallen in love a long time ago when they had first met. Now, looking at the situation in front of him and knowing that Cal was more in love than he'd ever been, all he could do was shake his head.

"Are you sure he's not just... trying to hide his true feelings for you?" Cal suggests, hoping to sound inconspicuous. She laughs aloud and rolls her eyes.

"Yeah right. Our first rule was not to catch feelings. Cal isn't like me, he wouldn't break that rule," she says, dragging her fingers lightly across her arm as she's thinking.

"What do you mean 'like you'?" he asks, already knowing the answer.

"Oh, isn't it obvious. I love him. He's a dickhead, but I love him," she groans, putting her head in her hands and closing her eyes. It was painfully obvious to everyone who knew the two of them. Although Cal opted not to mention that, he was thinking it very intensely at her as though she'd somehow get the message.

"So why don't you just tell him?" he asks, hoping that Cal could hear the conversation from his room. She shakes her head at him silently.

"Hello? I broke the first rule of being friends with benefits," she replies simply, her eyes trained on anything but his.

"And you think he hasn't?" Cal says, watching her facial expressions carefully.

"Has he?" she whispers, her eyes lighting up like Christmas lights. He nods in response, glancing towards the door and back to her. He had a feeling his friend was listening in on the conversation.

"Y/n, everyone knows you mean the world to him," he says, smiling. She returns the smile and gets up quickly. The door opens behind her, causing her to spin around, suddenly face-to-face with Cal. He meets her eyes, trying to hide his nervousness. She runs into his arms and they share a tight hug. Lux laughs and snaps a picture of the pair, sending it to the group chat. When he looks up again, Cal mouths the words thank you to him.
