The sound of Snow's heartbeat pounds in her ears as she watched the woman with the malicious glint in her eye twirl her knife near the victims neck.

'No, no. This can't be happening,' Snow thought. Of course Snow just had to go out to celebrate her promotion tonight.

"Don't let me have all the fun, baby," The female perpetrator said.

Her partners mouth twisted into a sinister smile as he pulled out a knife that matched hers. "I wouldn't dream of it. You know I love when we do things as a couple."

'Gross,' Snow thought to herself. She thought she might be sick.

With shaky hands, Snow pulled out her phone and dialed the number of the local police as she retreated further out of sight.

"Hello, I'd like to report a crime in progress," she said shakily as a tremor ran through her voice. "Please, you need to send officers right away. There are two attackers and both are armed."

The voice on the line answers calmly. How the heck could they be so calm about this?

"This is Officer Rivas with the Boston Police Department. Tell me the exact location which I should dispatch officers."

Once she relayed the information and her name, Officer Rivas made a quick call before jumping back onto the line. "Now Snow, listen carefully. No matter what happens, do not engage. Stay as far away as you can."

Peeking around the corner, Snow watched as the victim fell to the ground, an even thicker coat of blood soaking his shirt.

"Acck, no, stop! I can help you! We can work together!" He plead.

"There is nothing you can give us that we can't take by force," the woman snarled.

"Please, I'm of more use to you alive than dead..."

"But what if I can save him-"

"The only thing you can do is keep yourself safe. Officers will be on site any minute."

Snow closed her eyes and took a deep breath. A loud ping in her ears sends her scrambling to turn off the volume on her phone. Fumbling with the sound as several more messages pour in, she caught a glimpse of a message on her screen from Harika.

'Where are you?' it read.

Once she successfully silenced her phone, she brought it back up to her ear, struggling to hear what Officer Rivas is saying over the pounding of her heart.

"I need you to give me as much details as possible about the perpetrators."

As she starts to look towards the alley again, she notices the attackers are a lot closer than they were before.

"Did you hear that? I think someone else is hear," the woman said.

"Help! I'll reward you-"

The man kicks the victim to silence him.

"Quiet. I'm trying to listen."

The killers continue to move in Snow's direction. Scrambling back, she whispered into the phone. "They're headed this way!"

"Snow find somewhere to hide, but stay on the line with me!"

She heard footsteps approaching and felt her heart jump into her throat. She tried to lift her feet but they felt like they were weighed down with lead. The sound of footsteps on the pavement is almost right on top of her.

Then the whine of a siren fills the predawn air. Snow watched as the police car pulled up. Expecting to see the attackers, she risked a look around the corner, but only found the body of the victim on the ground, a pool of red spreading around his torso like dark wings.
